There is probably some house close by where they are keeping fighting cocks, strap spikes on them and let them slice each other up until one dies, but that's ok cos it's still legal here. Why is nobody campaigning to get widespread and regular animal cruelty like this banned in Thailand?

You are right, absolutely despicable and unforgivable cruelty. But it only exists because of gambling which ISN'T legal.

How does any of this equate with Buddhism? So much hypocrisy - no shame, no guilt or humility in sight.

Sometimes I am ashamed of my fellow man!

What has a religion go to do with this............... A low life is a low life....

The next headline I want to see on Thai Visa is "Man who was charged with cutting off dogs paws found with both hands and feet severed"

Why is it that everyone seems to have a sword. The attack on the crippled man, now the dog gets chopped. Are we living in feudal times ?

In a word "YES" local policeman more than once told me to carry a Samuari sword in my pick up, he wasnt joking!!

It makes me sick to my stomach that I have to share air with a person that could do this .....without a doubt I could put a bullet in his head.

So you would commit murder for a dog injury? The man had every right to protect his property from the dog, he just went about it the wrong way, advocating murder is also the wrong way to go and would make you 100x worse than the man who did this to the dog.

Only in your opinion. Actually I would prefer to torture him, make the cxnt suffer.

There are two sides to this story. Very, very few pet owners here are willing to engage in disciplining their dogs. So most just do as they please. Bark all night, chew up peoples possessions, roam the streets, chase bicyclists, chase motorcyclists, bite people at random, etc. They do as they want, as they are never shown any limit to their behavior. So, the owner of the pet has to take some responsibility.

Granted, no cruelty of this manner is justified over a pair of ratty boots, and what was probably a 200 baht helmet. But, he cannot be blamed entirely.

Yes, "he" the so called "human" can be blamed entirely.

No, the dog cannot be blamed ... he's a dog ... woof woof. Dogs do that, and you don't cut off their paws when they do. In a civilised society you train them, or you leave them alone and accept their behaviour, or you call a professional qualified dog pound.

and we all know how civilised Thailand is, the owner is partly to blame the dog is completely innocent........professional dog pound? In Thailand, is there one?

It's inhuman to eat animals, cruel and necessary. People here even eat chickens feet they get cut off as well

It's NOT inhuman to eat animals. If it was, you and I wouldn't be here as, before farming, our ancestors had no choice but to hunt, kill and eat them. It is INHUMANE to kill them in ways that involve unnecessary suffering.

I would assume that chicken's feet are cut off when they are dead!

I agree.. I see a lot more animal cruelty here than I did in the UK.. I thought the religion of this country was about how to stop suffering.. and even eating meat and killing animals is seen as wrong.

But most people here treat their animals with neglect at best.. and cruelty and abuse at worst. Many wild animals are trapped and put in tiny cages, the natural forests and habitats are cut down, burnt, damage and polluted. Farm animals are treated very badly.. often without enough food or medical help.. and transported and slaughtered in horrific conditions.

The chicken fighting is disgusting... and it seems more to do with gambling and men getting sick thrills from violence and blood. Actually, it almost always seems to be men that do these things for some reason.

I am not against eating animals or having pets... but humans need to treat them with respect... and give them the best living conditions and quickest and least stressful death. After all everything will die in the end.. and a quick painless death I is far better then a long slow suffering one for some disease of old age.

Sadly most humans can not even respect other humans.. with domestic violence, wars, child abuse, starvation and not helping others.

This man cutting the dogs feet off must be mentally disturbed. If he can do that kind of thing he would also be able to do it to a human.. he is dangerous.

I am glad Thailand has this new anti animals cruelty law.. and I can see its just starting to work.. but its going to take many years before we see real results.. as people have to change their attitude to the way they treat animals. Hopefully more reporting like this will bring animals cruelty to peoples attention and help make them see how its wrong.

I hope that man goes to prison or at least gets a huge fine. But I suspect not a lot will happen... at least he has shamed himself to a lot of people.

So the dog was on the neighbours premises chewing his shoes when he went ninja?

So what are you trying to say--------- is that OK to cut his paws off----- UGHbah.gifbah.gifbah.gif

Nah, should've chopped the head off.

Cruelty is our species darkest attribute. What we do to animals is only a glimmer of what we do to each other.

You're kidding right ?

What we do to animals is FAR WORSE of what we do to each other.

You obviously are unaware of what the central bank owners are currently doing to humanity.

You might want to share a beer with this guy but if he can take a sword to a dog what do you think he would do to someone who ate his addidas pumps....you"d look like William Wallace on a bad hair day

BANGKOK: -- A man has been reported to police for cutting off the front paws of a dog with a sword in Samutprakarn after the pooch chewed his shoes.

Theprachen Srisoda, 36, a crane operator, admitted to attacking his neighbor’s one-year-old dog in the early hours of Thursday morning after the dog had snuck onto his property and chewed his work shoes and safety helmet.

The dog’s owner, Natnicha Phuthorntong, 32, said “Cola” was taken to a vet for blood transfusions and is responding well to treatment.

The problem is that people dont take care of their dogs.

I dont condone in any way what has happened and its tragic....

Some people dont like dogs, so why do they have to put up with other peoples dogs.

If you dont have pets, it is not your responsibility to maintain a property as if you had dogs, so would put things out of reach.

I have 2 dogs and they are taken care of by me and not my neighbors... When they start barking, its me that goes out to find out what the problem is and if need be, I take them inside, so they dont disturb other people.

However, it is not fair the my 2 young kids cannot ride their bikes or go visit friends in the village without the fear of being attacked by dogs....

Thailand needs to fine more owners, have more animal control and make dog owners responsible for making sure their pets do not intrude on the welfare of other people!

For at least the second time.....

Not condoning this person's horrible cruelty but dog owners need to restrict nuisance animals.

Do we string people up and then beat them before stripping off their skin and cooking them alive? Because that's what people do to dogs in China. The adrenaline from the violent death is supposed to make the meat more tasty.

do we chainsaw off peoples heads whilst still alive.........or do you want that video from Mexico? do we gas them in the millions?

YES ! Those are average days in the meat & fish industry.

Gambling IS illegal in Thailand apart from the lottery rip off. That does not stop the cops owning casinos and monks betting on Muay Thai of course whistling.gif

Your Sick

That's a personal attack which is not meant to be allowed here. I have not eaten meat or fish since 1972 and am totally against animal cruelty, but not the destruction of pests. The owner was obviously not telling the truth when saying the animal was chained up and the guy had every right to protect his property from this pest.

How do you know he was in a rage any more than the villager stabbing and clubbing a pig to death to roast up? At least the pig would not have not been causing any trouble like this dog.
