One Kazakhstani and two Russian men arrested on Sunday after illegally entering Cambodia’s Preah Sihanouk province are set to be deported, according to immigration police. In a statement released yesterday, Russian nationals Smolin Mikhail, 29, and Gudimenko Anastasiia, 21, along with Kazakhstani Yartsey Vitaliy, 45, were identified as having crossed the Kingdom’s maritime border from Vietnam’s Nha Tra province on April 5.

The three confessed during questioning to living in the province without visas ever since, the statement added. General Ouk Hay Seila, the head of investigations for the General Department of Immigration, announced the deportations, but was not able to give a motive for the illegal migrants’ entrance to the Kingdom.

“It’s illegal to enter Cambodia without a visa. They will be deported. Right now, they are on the way, being sent to [the general department of immigration],” Mr. Hay Seila said. Provincial police chief Chuon Narion declined to comment yesterday, saying the story was outdated before hanging up the phone.
