90 day report confusion - please help!

Featured Replies

I am having some trouble working out when my 90 day report is/was supposed to be. I had my non-b visa temporarily extended from February 5th - 31st March in order to give my workplace time to organise the documents to get me a 1 year visa. In my passport, there is only one receipt stating the 90 day report date as May 6th - this receipt was issued on Feb 5th. After feb 5th, my next trip to immigration was to receive my 1 year visa stamp. So, the last stamp in my passport is dated March 31st, and underneath this stamp there is the generic 'Notification of residence must be made every 90 days' statement. If this is the case then I have until June 29th to report to immigration. The only problem with this is that there is no receipt/date in my passport relating to the 90 day report from this second trip to immigration. Basically, what I'm asking is whether or not I have actually missed my 90 day report date...

IMO, If your visa was issued on Feb 5....the you should report to zImmigration on May 5.....90 days.....so I think you're late.

Sometimes on your first extension immigration will also accomplish a 90 address reporting for you and you get a new 90 day address report receipt. That notification of residence must be made every 90 days is just a standard statement; it does not mean they did a 90 day address report for you.

Basically, a visa extension and 90 day address reporting are two completely separate processes with separate dates to be accomplished.

I am confused !

A non "B" visa cannot be "temporally" extended and Immigration do not issue one year "visa" stamps.

Unless you are able to clarify exactly what you have in the passport it is difficult to answer your questions.

I'm with johnatong here, give us all the details, fees paid, dates of entry etc.

I have a Non-B stamp valid from 8th November 2015 - 15th February 2016

After that I have what my workplace told me was an extension of my Non-B, (it doesn't say non B anywhere on this stamp) stating that it's an 'Extension of stay permitted up to 31st March 2016'. This was issued on 5th Feb, and this is the stamp that has the receipt attached giving the 90 day report notification date as 6th May 2016

The final stamp states that it is an 'Extension of stay permitted up to 31st March 2017'. The stamp format itself is identical to the one issued on Feb 5th, only with different dates.

You had a non B visa which has now expired. If an application for an extension of stay(it is not a visa) was accepted you had, I expect, a stamp which required you to return to immigration on a set date. either on or before March 2016.

If you have an instruction to do a 90 day report on 6th May you are late making the report and will be subject to a fine of 2000 Bht.

What stamp do you now have which allows you to remain in Thailand ? March 31 2016 is past and it would seem you are on overstay unless the extension of stay stamp actually says 2017

As I said, the final stamp states 'Extension of stay permitted up to 31st March 2017'. I have a work permit. I am not on overstay. My confusion is due to the fact that to obtain this last stamp in my passport I had to submit a number of forms and documents, one of which included my address. At the bottom of both stamps it says 'Notification of residence must be made every 90 days' which is why I was confused as to whether my trip to immigration AFTER the 90 day report receipt was issued would count as the first day of the 90 days I had before I was required to do a report.

Sorry, I missed you saying you had an extension of stay(not a visa!) which extends into 2017, a detail you did not include in your initial post.

You must now clear up your 90 day report situation as soon as possible. Expect to be fined for making a late report. The Immigration officer will give you another receipt which will detail when your next 90 day report is due,

Your situation is somewhat confusing. You were given permission to stay until March 31 but told to report having been in the country for 90 days on May 6. You were later given an extension of stay until March 31, 2017 on what day - March 30? My best guess is that your 90-day report is due 90 days after that one-year extension stamp. You could not have been required to report having been in country for 90 days on May 6 if you were required to leave on March 31, so I think that the May 6 reporting date is inoperative, if I were you, I would report 90 days after your latest extension stamp. If they try to fine you, point out that you were only permitted to stay until March 31 so you could not have reported on May 6 for that period of stay. Besides, there is a custom of allowing the first extension application to serve as a 90-report as well. Good luck.

Unless you leave the country, a 90-day report is required. The fact that an interim extension of stay was followed my a one-year extension of stay does not cancel the requirement to report. When the extension was done in March, the May 90-day report was not yet due, and the official could not have done it for you at that time. The information in your passport is correct. A 90-day report is due every 90 days, and the receipt telling you to do one May 6 is also correct.

90 day is separate. So you are late !.

They also give you 90 till after you visa expires, that will not say you can stay till that date because you will be overstaying your visa.

Go to Immigration and pay the fine then you will be ok.

Good luck.

As PIB mentioned in the 3rd post "Basically, a visa extension and 90 day address reporting are two completely separate processes with separate dates to be accomplished."

So all the later requests for more information from the OP, was just wasting the OP's time.

Visas are never extended. An extension of stay is an extension of one's permission to remain in the country. It is not a visa and does not allow one to leave the country and then enter again, as a valid visa would. Thus the need for a re-entry permit in lieu of a visa.

Agree that none if the discussion of visas and extensions has anything to do with 90 day reports.

As the name implies, one is obligated to report to immigrations if legally present in the country for 90 continuous, uninterrupted days.

You are late. You had a notice to report on or before 6 May. It doesn't make any difference about extension of visa or changing from one visa to another. You have to report every 90n days. Take money for the fine. Smile.

Sorry to crash this topic, but ive been reading it and i would like some advice if anyone is willing to do so.

I have never,in all the years i have been here been late in doing my 90 day report.I am on a retirement with 90 day extensions of stay.I always put my passport in my drawer and dont bother to look at it until a few days before my next appearance. However i looked at it today Sat 14th and it says to report on the 15th,which is a sunday(tomorrow) Immigration is closed today and tomorrow. If i report on monday, will i be hung drawn and quartered and my bits sent to the 4 corners of the kingdom as a warning to other over stayers? Or will they charge me for one day.

Once again i apologise for walking in like this.

All help,gratefully accepted.Thanks in advance.

You are allowed up to 7 days after expiry to report.

Ninety day reports are not extensions. It even states that on the receipts for them. Being late is not an overstay it is just doing the report late and there is no daily fine only a normal 2000 baht one up to a max of 5000 baht.

You can do your reports up to 15 days before the report date or 7 days after without being fined.

Thanks to all you guys that took time out to answer me.I am happy now.

Thai visa rocks.

Download Form TM 47 from Thai Visa Forum and complete it.

The first 90 report is due on the 90th day continuously in Thailand.

You may submit the report up to 7 days early or late.

The bottom part of the form is torn off and given to you as your receipt.

The next report is due after another 90 continuous days in Thailand and so on..

If you leave on day 89, no report is due.

Reports can be made in person, by mail or online.

If by mail, include a stamped self addressed envelope for your receipt.

Your visa date and the date you need to do your 90 day report are two separate things.

These are done at two separate stations.
