PATTAYA: -- At 9pm on the evening of May 16 police and Sawangboriboon Volunteers were called to the scene of a fatal collision between a pickup truck and red Honda Click motorcycle at Pornthep Village, Soi Chaipornvithiu, Pattaya.

They discovered the body of eighteen-year old Supawadee Lakchai, who had been covered by a sheet, lying face down in the road. Nearby was an overturned black Isuzu Dmax pickup truck with no licence plate and which had been badly damaged.

Officers also noted an open bottle of alcohol at the scene. Shortly afterwards the young girl’s mother, who had been out looking for her daughter, arrived and collapsed in shock at the discovery.

This tragedy was reported. 45 people (or very possibly more) die on average every day on Thai roads. The insanity of it all and complete vacation of any duty of care from the Police and Land Transport Department are difficult to fathom and very third world.

It is easy to pick and choose individual cases to try to make a point. Maybe a check of the deaths caused by drunk drivers in Thailand broken down by nationality might be more representative. With lack of proper law enforcement many will chance their arm knowing that if caught they can just buy their way out of trouble, whether they are foreigner or Thai.

How many death in Thailand are directly related to the consumption of Alcohol ?

( " I did it , but I was drunk ..." )

and how many Death are related to the consumption of Marihuana ?

So what should be illegal >>>?>>

This is one of the more painful consequences of non enforcement in a NON nanny state

Where are the disgusting graphic and intrusive photographs of the grieving mother and her dead child

To that member who has advocated running red lights speeding and drinking while under the influence in the last few days I offer this post up to you and only you

RIP...prayers and condolences to the families of all concerned.

Hopefully, the drunk driver will make restitution to the family that suffered the loss of a young daughter JUST beginning her life.

Now snuffed out.

Sad beyond measure.

Always remember you cannot change Thailand. Whatever you think is madness is how they've been doing it forever.

Example: Hundreds of Thai people die each Songkran week. Then it is never spoken about again until the following year.

Save your breath and mental energy for other things because nothing will ever change here against your wishes. The only time you can force change is with multi nationals and going up the chain of command with your complaints.

It continues as you rightly say but having said that it is no reason not to condemn it. If everyone in Thailand condemned this type of incident maybe, just maybe things would change
