PHUKET: A storm of controversy has erupted after it was claimed that Koh Tapu, a tropical inlet on Khao Phing Kan, more commonly known as “James Bond Island” was used as a backdrop for a western sex movie.

After footage emerged earlier this week, Thai people commenting on social media are outraged that a highly recognizable icon of Thai tourism has been used for a hard core sex film.

However, Sanook.com has reported that the location of the actual sex scene may not have been Koh Tapu in Pang Nga at all but somewhere else. They said there had been thousands of shares of the clips that they said were perhaps made last year.

One of a series of 90 second clips posted online shows a western woman in a Thai outfit seen in front of Koh Tapu inlet fixing her face. It appears that a large number of tourists are in the area at this time.

The actress then moves to the edge of the beach where several foreign men can be seen frolicking in the water behind her. Again Koh Tapu is clearly visible as the location for the action.

In another more controversial clip, a full on naked sex scene is shown in a more secluded area surrounded by tropical palms and trees with the blue sea in the background, although it is unclear if it is filmed at Koh Tapu.

Commenting on social media, many people had said that it was outrageous that a Thai tourist site as important as this one had been depicted in this way. While accepting that the sex scene itself was probably not actually done on the beach in front of the landmark, Thais still found it all highly inappropriate.

People commenting online called for an investigation to take place in order to try and find the source of the raunchy clips and whether or not official permission had been given for filming of the clips to take place

"Thai tourist site as important as this one had been depicted in this way."

Got news for them, its not only just the small island, the whole country is considered as SE Asia's biggest brothel.

With all of the current "stuff" going on in Thailand with the junta ....that people get upset of this. I wonder what they would say about the LIVE SEX SHOWS GOING ON IN BANGKOK nightly....boy they are selective in their outrage

I'd hate to have to count all the porn that's been filmed at famous tourist destinations around the world.

The number's too high for my feeble brain to imagine.

Especially now that anyone with a woodie, a smartphone and wifi can become an internet porn stud.

Errr, if only those 3 items, I for one won't be interested in watching it.

You've forgotten to include the, ah, 'recipient', err, 'partner', for the aforementioned woodie giggle.gif

Pornographic soliloquie's aren't my cuppa, either. But who am I to judge?

Would it not be better if all this outrage be directed at, for example, the traffic deaths, the murders, the dirty money, and so on.

Maybe those facts are more damaging for Thailand?

No outrage for littering the country with plastic bags and styrofoam, for polluting rivers and beaches with industrial runoffs and raw sewage, all of which happens at famous tourist sites and all over the country...., but it is acceptable behavior because it is done by Thais to their country and because it caters to their laziness. And now, as more Thais are travelling abroad, they use the same behavior to decorate foreign countries...

What is more damaging to a countries natural scenery and reputation: neglect, ignorance and disrespect, or a single farang porn movie?

Or the live sex shows in Pattaya, in Naklua Soi 29 as well as the one behind Big C (North Pattaya) that are so popular they cause huge traffic congestions.

The shows are twice a night 7 days a week and are fully sold out, farangs not allowed, Chinese tourists only.

You see them going in with families and all, elders too, unbelievable, wonder how many Chinese would visit Pattaya at all without those shows....

Its not fair that so many people ( mostly Thais it would seem ) have been able to watch this, because I havent seen it bah.gif !!!!

So, on which Thai porn channel did they get to see this, and if they are so uptight about porn then wahy were they watching, as I am sure it wasnt on channel 3 or 7, Makes you think that all this complaining is purely because it was farangs as the stars in such a location.

Thainess gets very tedious with their constant moral outrage.

Yup, violence in the media is okay but not sex? Strange morality.coffee1.gif

Come on now... did anyone believe that a sex film would or has never be made in Thailand? And...what about the boys from Leicester City F.C. and their orgy film? Besides the Thai Porn Film industry is quite lucrative. Google it.

So someone was watching a porn movie, then suddenly became outraged when tbey recognised the scenery - so decided to share the clip on social media to register their disgust? Is that how it happened?

It is not the Thailand people that "are upset" it is just the Thai media trying to sell more news papers with their sensationalism. In The US two months ago there was a headline reading "Iranian man wins a million dollar lottery and US citizens are up in arms" Bull Shxt, almost every week somebody wins a very large lottery in The US..(twice now over $ 900,000,000 and no one cares who wins it.As I said sensationalism.

Thais complaining about a sex movie being filmed at one of it's iconic island tourist attractions? Give me a break...what a bunch of hypocrites...Sex tourism is the tourist industry...the farang sex movie will not hurt tourism...may actually help it...
