PHUKET: -- The Phuket Country Club will host the Phuket Golf Association’s first Amateur Open this Saturday.

The event is open to both Thai and tourist amateurs and will feature cash and prizes, said Phuket Golf Association Chief Terayout Prasertphol.

“The competition will follow the rules of the United States Golf Association (USGA), The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, as well as the local rules of the Phuket Golf Association,” said Mr Terayout.

The old course is a lot of fun. You can drive the par 5 tenth green with a 4 or 5 iron by cutting across the lake but it is high risk because the green is surrounded by high boulders.
