KANCHANABURI — Wildlife officials were surprised to discover two tigers previously unknown to them inside the Tiger Temple compound today, along with revelations of jars containing dead baby tigers labeled as energy drinks.

The tigers, both adults and alive, were not among the 147 tigers known to be held at the commercial wildlife complex that authorities began removing Monday, meaning authorities now believe at least 149 live tigers had been in the now shuttered facility, formally known as Wat Pha Luang, at the beginning of this year.

On the flip side, shame on those who in this day and age create a market for tiger products.

They use dead tigers to activate the luk thep dolls.....the real ones at least......

There can be no punishment that measures up to the crimes conducted by the depraved minds of those who are responsible for this utterly repugnant conduct at this so called temple. I hope this place is razed to the ground and every person, robed or not, who has participated in these practice's are not only jailed but made to undertake social service of the most unpleasant but necessary kind. And the Buddhist hierarchy who had responsibility for this so called temple should be treated equally harshly because they are guilty of looking the other way.

Surely enough is enough now.

Don't wait for the monks responsible for this to be disrobed, arrest them now.

There's obviously people a lot higher up the feed chain, other than these monks, that have been involved and likely managed the marketing and export of the products of this disgraceful and tragic business.

I'm sure they are now known to the cops, but will we hear of them and not just a few of the usual low level "staff".

Disgusting what those bast...s have been doing.

Anything to make money.

Buddist monks ?? Scum of the earth, should be jailed for life.

I get the feeling that all that has been found is just the tip of the iceberg. I sure hope they are at the Abbott and all the monk's that were there doing this.

So where is the usual rant from the governemnt about "bad for the image of Thailand"?

The people involved with this should be placed alive in large bottles of formaldehyde and then displayed in a Tiger memorial museum.

correct, but it isn't just the monks involved, there are those outside the sytem as well. Everyone is focusing on the monks while the others are trying to do what they can to avoid what's coming.

Unfortunately alot will be swept under the carpet, this is how Thailand works.

Put the scum responsible for this in a room {one at a time} with a drug free tiger and let them decide how to resolve the issue 1 on 1.

Changing of the guard. The temple lost its high level protection for its highly profitable illegal activities.

I hope they don't ban this Tiger product, some people consider it a good Asian lager, including me.

I think you are right. Harboring a guess I'd say that it will eventually emerge that a lot of local police, as well as army personnel and politicians are involved. The usual culprits, so to speak. That's the only way how this disgusting temple could operate for so long.

If I remember correctly, there was a news story a few days ago which mentioned the chairman of the temple committee, reportedly a police colonel, on whose orders wildlife department officials were denied entry.

Sewer cleaners are in great demand, so let these scum clean the sewers of Thailand for the next 20 years. At least 8 hours a day, rain or shine, 7 days a week.

The 'Others' are currently making hasty plans to exit the kingdom.

Easy on mate........so in your mind every Buddhist monk is scum!

IMO I don't think so.

Why do people keep calling these guys monks? They are criminals, running an illegal business. They just happens to wear orange robes, since that protects them from the outside world.

think since they love tigers so damn much put all there arse's in a cage with them and see if buddha protects there butts.

i thought korea was a 'tiger' economy, but it seems thailand is.

disgraceful business all round, i am shocked it happened but the scale of it is horrific.

Haven't read any comment at all by the Thai Sangha Council about the Tiger Temple and its abbot....they must be busy with spiritual things.

Saffron Mafia, even more powerful than the police.

Tiger trafficing, very unusual wealth, airplanes, illegal cars, drug use and money laundering just for starters and all with the support of the people.

Disgusting what those bast...s have been doing.

Anything to make money.

I share your thoughts completely however monks will never be jailed, neither will temples be razed

Can't believe this. Thai monks wouldn't do such a thing.

You are partially correct Dave. REAL monks would not do this sort of thing. I have met real Thai monks and they are wonderful people. Not anything like this bunch of scum bags in monks clothing. coffee1.gif
