Meeting on Dhammachayo’s surrender remains inconclusive

BANGKOK: -- The chief monk of Pathum Thani province, Phra Theprattanasuthee, met Monday with representatives of the Department of Special Investigation and the Office of National Buddhism to discuss proposed surrender of Phra Dhammachayo to acknowledge the charges of money laundering and receiving stolen objects.

Wat Dhammakaya was not represented at the meeting today but the temple sent a summary report about the previous meeting to discuss the same matter.

DSI deputy director-general Pol Lt-Col Somboon Sarasit told the media after the meeting that the discussion was inconclusive as there are still some conditions from the temple which are yet to be considered although the DSI, the Office of National Buddhism and Phra Theprattanasuthee were in agreement with most of the issues being discussed.

The three parties will meet again next Tuesday.

This is good isn't it, more delays and no need for anyone to make a decision !

What an absolute disgrace as a suspect in an investigation into major crimes lays down conditions and they get considered and discussed.

It seems almost anything goes except taking action that is and don't look to the top of the shop for leadership.

It is past time for the PM to grow a pair, and get this criminal monk locked up.

He and his army pals were quick to depose a demographically elected prime minister and take over the country.

Yet a single monk is untouchable Why?

Maybe because he has too much info regarding high ups in Thailand, so he is still free.

Thailand is fast becoming a laughing stock due to the governments failure to uphold the law.

Before members start shouting about innocent until proven guilty, this monk made himself a criminal by hiding/ ignoring justice.

High flying monk in Hawaii . Another on the run from the tiger temple and here's one right here right now who could be brought in to answer questions and yet they pussyfoot around looking completely inept.

This bloke could be long gone for all they know.

? I'm confused. Unless damnikaya is under the mahaniky sect, what could the chief monk of the province do?

Didn't make a difference when the supreme patriarch tried to bring them to the table ... so what gives?

Oh, that's right - do THE most to make people think something is finally going to be be done for a while, then sweep it under the rug.

It is their country after all. They know just how well they can twist things with just a small slap on the wrist for punishment.

This meeting received a report about the last meeting, so we need another meeting in a week...

"Absurdism", the national art form is being practiced with furious abandon

The little monk has accomplished one thing with almost unbelievable ease and efficiency.

He's demonstrated very clearly that despite the standard repertoire of scare tactics, threats and bullying...

...the government is essentially impotent in the face of determined noncompliance.

"discussion was inconclusive as there are still some conditions from the temple which are yet to be considered"

The accused setting conditions on his arrest - priceless!

Is it just me ?? Or perhaps there are others out there just shaking their heads in sheer disbelief, yes, Thailand, you have shown us all your worst and now you are succeeding in surprising even us.

What complete and utter crap, a total disgrace to Buddhism.

Easy solution, as it's evading arrest, or in this case "up yours" - just go arrest the guy, easy - shouldn't pose any real problem.

Thai buddhism is just more powerful than a bunch of generals.Their hands are tied, nothing they can do till the head honcho monk gives his blessings.

PM HAS NO GONADS

There is room on the jet for another one. I am sure he can pay his way.

....when is someone that is supposed to be arrested....not arrested.....???

...all too often it seems.......

"proposed surrender" .. It doesn't appear he's proposing surrender. What he's proposing is, "go away and leave me alone. I'm not coming in and you don't have the power to come and get me." I don't believe this chief monk of Pathum Thani province has the authority to propose or discuss anything for Phra Dhammachayo. This is just another dog and pony show.
