New faster better quality trains to run between Bangkok and the provinces

Featured Replies

Why confusing? It's an upgrade on existing services, it will take at least another 10 years until high speed trains will be operating.

Oh come on. Now you are just being optimistic. cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

Sounds great but how about first of all making sure the rails are maintained and the railway crossings are safe?

Actually, they have been doing a pretty good job on upgrading the rails. They have been replacing the old rotton wood ties with concrete sleepers. Makes a huge difference. But yes, they definately have to do something about the crossings, ESPECIALLY all the illegal ones.

Never mind subs, aircraft carriers and sub hunting planes, this is where the government should be spending money, infrastructure. thumbsup.gif

Totally agree, those war things mentioned are only bought to protect the wealth of the elite rich same as any other country.

Infrastructure upgrades are also a much better idea than economically suicidal rice scams. But that bought something more important; votes.

Wossamatter Baboon, are cheap shots only allowed from one side?

^^

At least you admit that is what your post was, I suppose...

I thrive on trains and thats anywhere in this part of the world

This is not good news for me

I hate progress it means change I would have made a good Luddite

I am not in a rut I have just settled in

I have been on all the express trains I am just repeating somebody else's description here

Plus some ordinary or third class trains if you like

Bottom berth - bunk for me and our girt so I can keep an eye on her

For sustenance a brace of stainless steel flasks

Containing black coffee with a liberal input from my nautical mate Capt Morgan

Toilets a plenty which is a good idea for me and my bladder

Food OK price also OK

MP3 for entertainment then I am set up for 15 hours plus

My idea of travelling in style

I cant wait to get back to Vietnam to do HCMC to Hanoi again 30 hours plus

That by the way is on the fast train absolutely orgasmic

Happy and safe travels to all

PS

I know this post wont carry much weight on here

But I have decided to post it anyway SO THERE

In Thailand, it;s always 'will' or 'going to'

It's never 'is or 'already'.

Always jam tomorrow.

.........bought an election, with other people's money. He doesn't need infrastructure upgrades.

Thailand trying to make the rail system better for the people, and already on here the doom lords are putting it down.

Not all Thais can afford to fly this is a positive and not just about quicker visa runs for falang.

Maybe the 'doom lords' know something about Thainess that has inexplicably passed you by?

Track upgrades nearing completion, new modern rolling stock ready to go, but it can't possibly be a good thing because the wrong government is in office. Right?

... And that's another thread not in any way about politics flushed down the shitter thanks to Thaksin Derrangement Syndrome. Fabulous. Give yourself a round of applause.

Well I think this is great news. I look forward to riding in a modern comfortable train at a reasonable speed. Do you have anything to add besides sniping at my posts?

Great, faster trains = faster crashes.

It is a long journey and no alcohol... I'll fly thanks.

You'll need to live a long life my friend. You'll likely see Thaksin coming back before TL gets a decent train service. But you know that already, you just need to hug the junta for a bit. Maybe you're feeling a bit insecure.

We all understand that.

What is interesting is that they were going on about High Speed Trains (HST) and now they are buying Medium Speed Trains, (still metre gauge) from China.

You must admit it is all rather confusing.

The gauge has nothing to do with China.

The purchaser decides the gauge and China or any other railcar builder will comply.

Thailand is 1-meter gauge, the complete rail network. Of course 1-meter will not work with High Speed trains. Unless you buy Swiss build trains which run very smoothly on 1-meter gauge.
