I have seen a ton of other posts helping members with information regarding similar requirements but I was hoping someone would be kind enough to update me on the current requirements for the following;

American Citizen / Thai wife

Type O Marriage Visa - Renewal

In Bangkok, Cheang Wattana

What documents do I need to bring?

What forms should I have filled out.

I did it last year for the first time and it was a monster. I lost about 4 months off of it this year because I didn't realize I had to ask permission to travel and left without a multiple entry visa now I have to start all over again.

I already got the 60 day extension now I need to head back for the proper visa at least 15 days before my 60 days is up.

What should I bring with me?

Thank you kindly in advance.

I assume you got a visa exempt entry when you entered without a re-entry permit and have now extended it for 60 days to visit your wife.

You will need to complete a TM87 visa application form. Download: http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/download/pdf/tm87.pdf

You will need the financial proof needed for an extension of stay. But the money does not need to be in the bank for 2 months.

Here is general list of required documents.

Proof of 400k baht in the bank for 2 months by way of a letter from your bank and your bank book.or 40k baht income.proven by a income letter from your embassy.

Copies of your passport photo page and every page that has any stamp or visa for Thailand on it. Copy of TM6 departure card.

Marriage certificate and a updated Kor Ror 2 marriage registry (Kor Ror 22 for foreign marriages)

Copies of your wife's house book registry and ID card.

Photos of you and your wife in and around the house. One must show you both with the house number shown in it. The number of photos needed varies by office.

Map to your residence from the nearest main road or street.

Proof of residence if not living where your wife's house book is for.

Hey Joe... does Kor Ror 2 need to be updated if we married in Februaty this year?

Are photos also required for the first extension?

Wife needs to come along, right?

The Kor Ror 2 will not likely need to be updated. I have seen reports that Chaeng Wattana does not ask for it.

Photos are always needed.

Yes your wife needs to be with you for every extension application to do a statement.

Thanks Joe, I really appreciate you taking the time to spell this out for me. Saves a bunch of hassle. As per your assumption;

"I assume you got a visa exempt entry when you entered without a re-entry permit and have now extended it for 60 days to visit your wife."

Correct, I am.

I'm wondering about the Kor Ror 22, we need to get a new one every year yeah?

No medical certificate?

I have a daughter with her should we have documents for her handy as well?

If doing your extension at immigration in Bangkok there have been reports of them not requesting a updated Kor Ror 2 or 22.

A medical certificate is not required for any extension or visa application.

You should include a copy of your daughters birth certificate.

Just a update, thanks for the help. I'm not sure if I needed the Kor Ror 2 updated but I got it anyway. What they did need was my proof that I was eligible to marry, when we were wed. Dumb as hell IMO, I mean I had to show that too marry in the first place, and get the visa the first time. Why again? But they didn't ask me for the map. I gave it anyway, but it wasn't asked for. Oh well atleast wifey and I were in and out of there quick.

Thanks again Joe.

At Chaeng Wattana they want the letter to be no older than the day before the date you apply. They also want your bank book updated on the same day you apply.

The banks are easily accessible at Chaeng Wattana, Bangkok. They are all downstairs, in the basement area along with all the copy and photo shops. I always get my bank letter and passbook updated on the day.

As for the photos, I only ever take two. One of us both in front of the house with the house number in it and one of us both inside the house. I them print them off the computer.

I've used the same Kor Ror 2 for the past ten years, without any problems.
