BANGKOK: -- His Majesty the King was administered with balloon angioplasty and stents together with rotablator to relieve the narrowing of coronary arteries by doctors at Siriraj hospital on June 5, according to the announcement of the Bureau of the Royal Household.

The result of the percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) procedure without the use of sedative was satisfactory but His Majesty the King is still kept under close observation by doctors.

The announcement said that doctors found changes in the EKG reading of the King’s heart and follow-up blood test showed a condition of blood shortage in the heart’s muscle.

Further tests showed narrowing of coronary arteries which required the administration of non-surgical PCI procedure on June 5.
