Thailand and China have successfully ended their over two weeks long naval exercise "Blue Strike 2016" that involved more than 1,000 marines from both countries taking part.

The naval exercise, the first time for Chinese marine forces to conduct drills with foreign forces outside of China, began May 22 and lasted June 7 at Sattahip naval base in Chonburi province.

The exercises using live ammunition with the Thai and Chinese marine forces supported by tanks and armored personnel carriers, were presumed to launch simultaneous attack on a suspected terrorist base which have in occupation weapon of mass destruction

The combined forces were then ordered to fire 122 mm self-propelled artillery at the target, while armored infantry units of the two nations, then, moved in Chinese amphibious armored fighting vehicles ZBD 05 and ZBD 07 and Thailand’s BRT wheeled amphibious armored vehicles to destroy and seize the ground base.

Royal Thai Marine Corp deputy commander and also the deputy director of the Blue Strike 2016 exercise Captain Suthipong Anantachai, said the joint Thai-Chinese marine exercise was aimed at fostering the good friendship between the two countries, and at developing cooperation in military and humanitarian missions.

Thailand and China had first taken part in naval exercise in 2010 and this exercise was the third time and the first time that saw Chinese marines joining in.

He said the joint exercise would lead to the strong military cooperation.

He said the next joint exercise might see cooperation of the two countries in the battle field and in the humanitarian operations.

Blue Strike 2016 engaged sea and land exercises and ran from May 22 to June 9.

A total of 295 Thai marines joined the drill while China has sent 228 marines to the exercise.

China wants the Blue Strike to be one of the major military joint exercises like Cobra Gold which Thailand, the United States and many allied have conducted annually.

However, Thailand has preferred to see Blue Strike to gradually develop step by step.

inside the terrorist base:

Ring Ring...

"Hello?"

"OMG there are about a 1000 guys in huge tanks headed towards you. I think they will be there in about a hour"

"OK, thanks. Were out of here."

"Wait you can't take the main road, there is a huge traffic jam. And some guy with a red flag showing the Chinese where to go"

Thank goodness for that. Imagine if they hadn't been able to satisfactorily end it. It could have gone on for years.

Another stunning achievement for Thailand and Thais everywhere,

Of course, all the credit goes to a picture... just as it should do.

Excellent.

Lets all just be friends. Pick your buddy.

I think it's time for the US to pull out of this steam bath anyways.

I hope they did not let the Chinese use the "Head" (facilities) on board Thai Ships.

It sure will take plenty of fire hoses to get the floors all shiny again.

The Thai Marines are supposed to be pretty good. This according to US Marine Corps Captain (mustanger) and his 1st shirt I talked to a few years back. I said "pretty good". China now knows for sure that if it can't buy Thailand it can just walk in and take it. I wonder if that pretend "terrorist" encampment was like my wife's village where a couple of days ago the army suddenly occupied once again and searched every house, allegedly for yaba. Yea sir, winning hearts and minds. This was NOT a red shirt village. Not yellow either.

And to think they only destroyed two mudhuts and killed two water buffalos and 70 Burmese during the exercise. Are those condoms on the muzzles of there weapons?

Actually when i saw this thread and the article i knew there would be lots of jealous farang in it as they cannot stand china and thailand having a sucessful military exercise and in the process build stronger ties. Yet let's assume it was the US or UK having a naval exercise with thailand they would be going wow this is great news!! Hooray!!! Western power dominates over thailand. We are superior to them! This will show them thais! Treat me mr farang as 3rd class human being but now the western military shows you that we are superior to you thais! I bet the thai navy and military were vastly inferior to the superior farang navy and superior farang marines.

That's weird i mean i am sure the US for example or another western nation probably has military exercises with thailand is it ok for thailand to be their slave instead? What about the US security taking over the thais when obama visited thailand in their own country and they had to listen to the US? What is your opinion on that? Would it be different if let's assume China's security detail committed the same actions when the president of China visits thailand? If it is different why is it different?

The Chinese bootneck is pointing at a mortar - it must be the guilty one. I wonder what it has done?

The one on the left could do with a haircut, and waving an iron over those combats...

Some foolish people posting on here, the ones that think China is a "good" country. The US has many, many faults, if you think China is better go talk to the Lao people. And no, I'm not forgetting what we did to them during the American War in SE Asia. Looking at the picture, the man standing next to the lady, her left, appears at least in the picture to be a US Marine. Starched/blocked utility cover, rolled up sleeves, just looks farang. Hard to tell, I resized but the face was blurry to start with.

I thought that the US had gone over to wearing those sort of brownish digital pattern combats, this fellow appears to be wearing the older green style.( those white rolled up sleeves would make a good target though). I very much doubt that either the Thais or especially the Chinese would let a US Marine anywhere near this little adventure!

Ah, as Sgtsabai points out, it's a she - an LJ (Lumpy Jumper- sexist British military slang for a female soldier)!

Still, pressing her kit wouldn't hurt...

Did they use the aircraft carrier?

it wasn't available apparently as it had to remain in dock so some admiral or other could have photos taken posing in front of it.

The worrying part of that is they are firing live rounds at a target with a nuclear weapon they don't is active or inactive! blink.png

It is not about who or what we are, it is about the totalitarian Chinese government , they always back the one dressed in black , they work off a philosophy of don't do as we do , do as we say, as for superior equipment, I think the PLA have already admitted the west are about 10 to 20 years in front in various critical areas like aircraft engines, that's why the nice young lady last week from LA was put away because she tried to export some Pratt and Whitney fighter engines to China , .stupid bitch.

A while ago I thought that maybe the USA and Europe would take a principled stand against Thailand and Prayuth.

Silly me.

While China is trampling all over Thailand's ASEAN neighbour's rights in the South China sea, Thailand is joining China in conducting naval exercises. I wonder if Thailand is trying to send a message to it's ASEAN neighbors ?

Perhaps. If it i, it's not a surprise to the rest of ASEAN, they have no time for Thailand, and no respect, except perhaps for the Burmese Army who are even more reviled than Thailand'.. Watch and see how much help Thailand gets from its neighbours when it needs it - and it will need it. Thailand's neighbours have long memories and not much goodwill in this respect.
