BANGKOK: A video of a bus colliding with a taxi in Bangkok has been viewed one and a half million times in just over a day.

The clip taken on Rachawithi Road near the Victory Monument shows a bus of route 539 refusing to give way to a taxi near a zebra crossing on Friday.

Many posters felt the bus driver deliberately side swiped the taxi before veering to the left to pick up passengers.

Now the transport authority BMTA want to speak to the company that runs the service and the driver to get to the bottom of what happened.

Unusual to see two head strong and stubborn Thai drivers colliding... most of the time someone will

give way to the other, this time it seems that the bus driver think that he has the right of way......

Looks like the bus crossed a continuous white line which it is not supposed to do but this is Thailand

looks to me like there was an ongoing incident from before this video with the taxi driver first not knowing the bus was trying to cross into his lane as he didn't start to indicate until he was along side, second why was the bus wanting to move into that lane ? third there was little the taxi driver could have done from the position he was in with traffic in front and behind him.

Either the bus driver was on something or he was acting out an episode of road rage from an earlier encounter

Well according to the unspoken rules of Thailand traffic the taxi driver should not have been that aggressive. IMHO

The unspoken rules of Thailand say that bus drivers can do whatever they like. I have often seen them bully motorists and drive as if they own the roads.

Reminds me of a recent case where a truck driver intentionally kicked a fully occupied mini van to the ditch at full speed on a highway.

That could have cost lives!

Lunatics, mentally ill all over.

Truck drivers, mini van drivers, taxi drivers: non better than the other.

Without looking for an excuse but also here the story before the video is missing.

Bet the taxi driver did a nice trick on the bus before.

...no sympathy....

...try driving a bus...let alone in Bangkok...

...try riding a bus and see what they have to go through with these taxi drivers....

...the bus should have right of way....

...the taxis cut them off and block them...and block the bus stops 50 meters before and after the stop...

Traffic code i Thailand? The land where a side street has the right of way when turning onto a road the runs straight? I have never seen anything so ridiculous.

I am guessing it is satire, but you never know online so let me react anyways:

...if the bus driver cannot handle his bus on busy roads filled with taxis he should not be a f***ing busdriver...

...a bus should not have right of way, right of way should be based on traffic laws and not the type of vehicle one drives

...how can a taxi cut him off when the bus is the one passing the taxi and coming in front of it?...

Your post makes no sense.

Bus Stops are not on the right hand side of the road. This is a deliberate attempt to ram/intimidate/get satisfaction, whatever. All those metropolitan claptrap buses are held together with body filler.

That's crazy. You could say the bus should have right of way in a bus lane. But this is just metres from a bus stop and the driver shouldn't be anywhere near the right-hand lane. We don't know if anything went on before but that bus driver is an idiot.

I can see why there are so many traffic incidents in Thailand

Some of these posts display a total lack of driver awareness and common sense

Assumptions regarding what might have gone on before between them is also nonsence

and no one pulled out a gun? i am must say, i am really impress with their self control.

Rule of the road in Thailand.... Size does matter when it comes to right of way.

Cement trucks at the top, then buses, lorries, pickup trucks, cars, motrorcycles, all the way down the lowly pedestrian at zebra crossings who has no right of way at all.

I recommend remedial reading lessons in plain and simple English, while paying special attention understanding said language

Then try reading my post again

But I will give you a little help to start you off the term SOME is NOT near enough everybody

That explains it Smedley you were one of those with the nonsensical assumptions

In that case I also recommend anger management

Oh aren't you going to be busy

Angry Thais again. :(

The Taxi also does the Thai trick of speeding up just to make it difficult for the driver pulling in front of them.

and still your contribution to the topic is nil, you seem to be focused on other posters - you have a serious mental issue that needs some help mate, how about talking about the OP rather than having a go at the smart people who actually have a contribution to the topic......I'm not sure you will ever get it, rather sad

All city bus drivers in Thailand think they are the sole owners of the roads.

I have videos of this every single day from my bicycle. Where can i up load them to?

Youtube and then let your wife post about it on a thai forum.

But do it all anonymously otherwise you will get into trouble.

There are specific FB groups for this also, similar to the thai group "i park like an idiot" where you can upload pics of how idiots parked their cars.
