BUNG KAN: -- A son cut off his blind mother's head as well as his neighbor's head and dumped them in a bucket in the bathroom for police to find.

On Monday, Bung Karn police who smashed their way into a house in Sri Wilai district found a scene straight out of a horror movie. The severed heads of neighbor Samruay Yortsaeng, 59, and Suk Phimthapho, 62, were in a bucket reported Daily News. Suk's son Khet Phimthapho, 42, who had barricaded himself in the house was arrested and charged with murder.

Police had earlier been called after reports of a murder behind a house next to a field. In a bamboo thicket they found the headless corpse of Samruay some thirty metres from his house. In a house next door a man had locked himself into a room housing Buddhist images.

They heard cries for help from the blind mother. Khet had taken his mother hostage in their own house.

The house area was sealed off. Police waited as they did not want to endanger the old lady by rushing in. When her cries ended they decided to enter the property. It was at this point that officers saw the murderer come out of a bathroom holding two heads, one in each hand.

Officers momentarily retreated to decide what to do next as the man took the heads back into the bathroom. When reinforcements arrived the building was charged and Khet was taken into custody asking "What's going on?"

He had wounded himself in the leg and was taken to hospital in an incoherent state while officers surveyed the grisly scene. They found the headless corpse of his blind mother and blood throughout the house. The severed heads were in a bucket in the bathroom.

Three identical two foot long bloodstained knives were taken into evidence. The murderous son had been sniffing glue.

Wow! Such tragedy and horror. My sympathies for the family. Death and killing is pretty cheap here and with the benefit of intoxication from drugs makes it that much easier.

Drug and religion intoxication seems he. All to transform a normal guy in perfect <deleted>.

Sheer horror. Rip the victims.

Sometimes it seems the violence in the Kingdom is spiralling out of control. Is this the very same world I am living in?

It is becoming a lawless country but everything is not all bad. The RTP have soapy massage parlours well under control.

Gruesome.

A bit more to it than glue sniffing, like severe mental issues.

Agreed.

Just glue sniffing alone doesn't make users psychopathic.

True.It could also depend on what else was in the brown paper bag,said or done beforehand and maybe a little alcohol to make a superman crazier than 10.

My thoughts exactly. And because many mental illnesses are not even recognised here, these kind of things will carry on happening as often as it does. Nations with a lower understanding and or care for mental illness most of the time have a higher murder rate. One example of a developed country having a higher disregard of mental illness is the US, and they have one of the highest murder rates of any developed country, if not the highest.

All the way at the end finally a Post that seems to have an understanding not only of Thailand but the rest of the world including its self-appointed leader.

Had this been in the US, the guy would have instantly been turned into a sieve as every officer would have unloaded their guns into him, and then some!

That is exactly what happens to the mind, when you habitually sniff glue. It makes you crazy. http://addictionlibrary.org/illicit/glue-sniffing.html

  • dizziness
  • loss of coordination
  • muscular movement
  • slurring of speech
  • mental deterioration
  • hallucinations
  • drowsiness
  • coma
  • respiratory failure
  • etc
  • Glue sniffing is an addiction. This guy has probably been doing it for some time. I seen children with bags containing rubber glue in the philippines. As young as two years old. They would be totally out of reality. Picking up rocks, running amok....and unable to stop.

    I know many people with severe mental issues that never do these things. This is obviously the result of his addiction.

    Was he born mentally ill? Nowhere did I read that. He got high on glue...probably often...and lost his mind. Hallucinations and Hostility along with deterioration of the brain.

The poor woman might just have had a chance had the police rushed the room where the killer was holding her and shot the guy.. No doubt the murderer came out of the bathroom screaming "Two heads are better than one".

A tragic mess all round.

Easy to google "glue sniffing psychosis" to know if glue sniffing can cause psychosis but it seems on tv some experts are already rewriting the knowledge and research and experience of the psychiatric-medical community. one would hope these posters are not the same ones critical of thais for lack of critical thinking.

Toluene Dependency, Psychosis, and Cerebellar Syndrome To the Editor: We report on a 22-yearold man who has a 9-year history of glue-sniffing that evolved into a full-blown picture of psychological dependency that was characterized by craving and tolerance, which was subsequently followed by agitation, irritability, and physical struggle. It gradually ended with period of low mood, lack of motivation, and social withdrawal. The disturbance was punctuated by episodes of florid psychosis during intoxication, which included visual hallucination and disorganized behavior

Nice to see the police are the same all over the world, go eat donuts until there's no danger, then go in.

If it had been a soapy massage parlour they were attending they would have been in the door in the blink of an eye. Pushing each other out of the way to get in first.

Maybe they are fans of Rudyard Kipling?

If

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,

Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,

And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;

If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,

And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings

And never breathe a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,

Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,

And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son.

The problem is not so sear Mental illness or Glue sniffing but rather what Thais believe in as a Spiritual possession and is a phenomenon in which a stray being from the Spirit World constantly or temporarily possesses and exerts negative influence on a person living on earth. Most commonly they are known as “evil spirits” and, although many people may scoff at the idea, it is a real and undeniable fact that they exist and influence our lives. The glue sniffing just help to slightly mutilating the natural state of your body in order to be deemed acceptable for evil spirits. Spiritual possession can be the cause of illnesses, mental disorders or even crimes, but this phenomenon is not being treated appropriately since modern medicine and science do not recognize the existence of spiritual possession. Fact is though the phenomenon of spiritual possession is a common occurrence and to prevent or counter it people must have accurate spiritual knowledge – they must know the Truth.
