Retirement visa

Featured Replies

One last time. So you have to come to Thailand, deposit 800,000 baht in a bank. Leave and go to Vientiane and get a 90 day non immigrant visa. Come back into thailand, and then change this to a retirement visa. This makes no sense. But for the last 18 months every single person I have asked about this has given me a different answer. By the way, one month ago when I exited Thailand in ranong, the Thai immigration officer stole $100 from me!

You can get the Non Imm O Visa in Thailand if you qualify for the 12 month extension. (It is not a Visa)

800,000 in a Thai bank.

OR 65,000 monthly income.

OR a combination of both.

Sometimes it is easier to get the Non Imm O Visa in another Country.

Get one in your own country before arriving.

Up to You.

If it makes no sense, even though it has been done by thousands - then don't you do it.

Go through in hoops in your home country and get a Non Immi OA Visa.

Eventually you will move out of the Visa system and into the Extension system because it will save you heaps and time in traveling back home to renew.

If you want to apply Western logic to Thai processes you're are going to be one unhappy camper.

The advice you have got above is gold - research the difference between a Visa (issued outside Thailand) and an Extension issued inside Thailand.

You should look at this topic you posted two days ago where you have some replies to your question. Retirement visa

Bob is having trouble understanding the difference between a visa and an extension of stay.

Bob -- where are you planning to retire in Thailand?
