June 17, 201610 yr Was walking passed a Police Headquarters along a main street in a large country town yesterday. On the front gate there was a banner depicting a helmeted rider and a seat belted driver with notations 100%. On the road were two cops operating a school crossing. I stood back and observed. 95% of riders, no helmet. A number of them riding with one hand, the other holding an umbrella. One lass texting or similar on phone. The cops did not question a soul. I suppose with the quality of the lids in these parts it probably wouldn't make much difference anyway. Edited June 17, 201610 yr by rockyysdt
June 17, 201610 yr Derogatory post Removed. Forum Rule - 1) You will not post slurs, degrading or overly negative comments directed towards Thailand, specific locations, Thai institutions such as the judicial or law enforcement system, Thai culture, Thai people or any other group on the basis of race, nationality, religion, gender or sexual orientation.
June 17, 201610 yr Obviation is all very good but it's a Thai thing to deal with and western opinions are not welcome.
June 17, 201610 yr No enforcement at school time, they set up after during school time.. Edited June 17, 201610 yr by Kwasaki
June 17, 201610 yr Education is the key. The grandchildren always giggle and look puzzled when I insist they have to buckle up. I once had to show them some youtube videos just to learn what the difference is. Should I show them pictures of smashed heads, pools of blood on the tarmac from Thai websites to learn about helmets? No mandatory driving school, a laughable practical driving test/circling on the office yard. Safety is a virtually non-existent theme in the one day tutoring. And before circling on the yard (day 2) the officer will remind them to put on a helmet for that. Edited June 17, 201610 yr by KhunBENQ
June 17, 201610 yr get killed get reincarnated repeat no pompom until they kill you that is papa Buddhist
June 17, 201610 yr get killed get reincarnated repeat no pompom until they kill you that is papa Buddhist Which will be a great comfort, no doubt, when you are not killed but instead rendered para or quadriplegic. Yes I know the the injury needs to be below the neck, but it is a possibility that seems to be entirely off the radar of the "live now die (going) fast" Sleazy Riders. June 18, 201610 yr It's a personal choice, well it's the law too but... The only person you will kill by not wearing a helmet, is you ! The BIB should focus their efforts on drink driving, speeding, reckless driving etc Btw I choose to wear a helmet as I'm not Buddhist

Yes I know the the injury needs to be below the neck, but it is a possibility that seems to be entirely off the radar of the "live now die (going) fast" Sleazy Riders. Thank you for clarifying that, grasshopper, and for sharing your information regarding trauma of the central nervous system. And RADAR stuff too maybe. Hopefully, the unkind comment directed at our fellow bike [sleazy] riders will have minimal negative Karmic consequences. Consider wearing an amulet. Not as prophylactic as a helmet, but can prove valuable none-the-less. Believe me... or not.
