BANGKOK — Thunderstorms and showers will continue dousing much of the capital this weekend as nine provinces are on alert for floods, strong winds and landslides, emergency officials said Friday.

A warning has been issued for the five southwestern provinces of Phuket, Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang and Ranong by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, along with the four eastern provinces of Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat. Residents are warned to prepare for the worst as rain is expected to continue falling through Tuesday, according to state-run media.

I was in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for the last week.

Just returned to Bangkok on the 23rd.

A couple of days of heavy rain and thunderstorms there.

After all it is rainy season in much of South East Asia.....same as every year.

Television showed images of last Tuesday's flooding in Bangkok.

...learned nothing...improved nothing...typical....

Yes, the Thais really do need to improve their weather. All that heat in the hot season, all that rain in the rainy season . . . just what are they thinking?

Subtropical jungle country...

what do they think... that they can just pave over the jungle and rice paddies with Western style tarmacadam streets and it won't be a subtropical jungle country anymore???
