PHUKET: -- Two raids carried out by more than 30 officers from Immigration and Royal Thai Navy Third Area Command at workers camps in Rawai this morning (July 1) found no evidence of human trafficking an official has said.

Lt Sompop Kamkana from the Royal Thai Navy Third Area Command said the first raid was carried out at 6:30am this morning at a camp in Moo 4 in Rawai.

“We found around 100 workers at the camp, but they were all Thai nationals mostly from Isan. The area was generally clean and we found nothing illegal.

“The people who take care of the camp told us that the company had laid off all of its migrant workers and that there were none left at the site,” Lt Sompop said.

Well isn't that just a big co-incidence when on the same day PM Prayut expresses his pleasure with Thailand's Tier 2 watch list ranking. The UN and the United States must now feel justified in their confidence with Thailand when it comes to eliminating people smuggling.
