I applied for and received a one month business visa for Cambodia today at the

Embassy in Bangkok. I was charged a whopping 1600 baht and that's what

my receipt said even though on the visa itself it says 25 US$ and this is what

I was told it should cost. Tourist visas are meant to be 20 US$

but even those cost 1100 baht at the Embassy.

I think this visa business for Cambodia has become a real

gravy train and I think its just getting out of hand.

When you think that the departure tax at Phnom Penh

airport will be another $25 U.S. the costs of doing business in Cambodia

is beginning to mount up.

Does anyone know why it costs 1600 baht for one month visa?

it's not so much what I am using - is what the Embassy is using and I didn't

ask them. They only except the payment in U.S. dollars otherwise

of course I may have been able to get a better deal............

And regarding Rinrada's comments -you were probably quite astute

to get a passport back then and you'll probably find that to get one

today will cost a small fortune :o

you were TOTALLY ripped. only us25 on any border.

better get crackin' did you know the date starts ticking the day its stamped??

ps: they want payment in usd (only). if you dont have usd its an excuse to overchg you in emb and on border. they still get b1000 for tourists on border from the nimrods that 1. cant speak any khmer 2. clueless you must have us20/5 3. act brash and rude

been months since i was in cambodia - ita about 4200-4400 to usd1 - convert it out to baht. dont take the 4000r unless that is what you pay = us1. when you get, you want at least us4250.

" did you know the date starts ticking the day its stamped?? " -sure did

Ripping off foreigners is now sadly becoming very blatant throughout Cambodia and I see it more and more on every visit
