midas Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 I applied for and received a one month business visa for Cambodia today at the Embassy in Bangkok. I was charged a whopping 1600 baht and that's what my receipt said even though on the visa itself it says 25 US$ and this is what I was told it should cost. Tourist visas are meant to be 20 US$ but even those cost 1100 baht at the Embassy. I think this visa business for Cambodia has become a real gravy train and I think its just getting out of hand. When you think that the departure tax at Phnom Penh airport will be another $25 U.S. the costs of doing business in Cambodia is beginning to mount up. Does anyone know why it costs 1600 baht for one month visa?
johnnyk Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Yes you are right, its a gravy train for a country that is one of the 10 poorest on the planet. I feel your pain.

They only except the payment in U.S. dollars otherwise of course I may have been able to get a better deal............ And regarding Rinrada's comments -you were probably quite astute to get a passport back then and you'll probably find that to get one today will cost a small fortune

liting Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 I wonder if you know about the electronic Cambodian visa (Cambodia E-Visa). Applying for the Cambodia visa has never been more convenient. I was there for a month in September, loved the efficiency. http://evisa.mfaic.gov.kh/
