What will Pattaya look like in ten year’s time?

I know what it looked like 50 years ago and it will never, ever look that way again and that is because greedy business owners are simply after money and will do anything to get it- even destroy what was once beautiful. As far as those who doubt the fact that the GoGo bars and their ilk will start to disappear, it is simple- the Government of Thailand wants to do away with them and in doing so the Western sex tourist will go elsewhere. This time the government is serious- Pattaya has a new Administration and they are Army. If You don't believe me- simply take a look around and watch the changes take place. Most of the bar owners want out- the reason being- they can't make a profit and cannot handle the scrutiny. In addition places like Nana and Cowboy are on the chopping block. As the years go on- those tourists who came for the booze and girls will still come to find them- but they won't be in Thailand. Thai tourism will not suffer because of the Chinese influx. Thailand will make its money a different way. Those who adopt to the change will make money- those who don't or can't will leave or retire.

No city looks the same after 50 years of progress. As for "greedy business owners simply after money" get real. Why should anyone open a business and NOT want to make money. Making a profit is not greed. It is what enables others to work and get salaries.

As long as education through high school is not free and strong emphasis put on education, both academic and trade, Thailand, as well as all nations that do not stress education, will remain behind. Good jobs will not exist for the population. Ergo, prostitution or cheap factory work. With inflation, it will be more and more difficult for uneducated and those who don't know a trade, to earn an honest living.

What Thailand is supporting now is Medical Tourism. They are succeeding in that arena. But Medical Tourism will bring all other tourism into play. Once the Casinos go in, employment will prosper. It won't only be the Casinos that will have large amounts of employment, it will be all the ancillary businesses. Delivery men, cleaners, linen, towels, family marts, pastry, bread, massage shops, bars, restaurants, suppliers of everything from toilet paper to soap. Entire industries are supported by Casinos. What they need is educated staff and vocational tradesmen...plumbers, electricians, air-conditioning, etc. All this must come together and Pattaya will be the place it will happen in the next 10 years. The largest Casinos in a total resort environment in all of Asia.
