Well Brian, wherever you go, there you are. But you're no longer here, thank heavens.

Maneeporn has always been pleasant and polite to me - I'm glad her colleagues didn't mess around with this loser.

I would have hoped that he got a stay of 30 days in the monkey house first and then blacklist this LOOSER.

All the information is out there; no excuses.

  • Countries which get 30 days at Airport and 15 day stamp at land border: Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Brunei, Belgium, Czech, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Kuwait, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Oman, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Slovak, Slovenia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and UAE.
How much will I pay for overstaying?

That depends on the number of days you overstayed in Thailand. The minimum charge is 500 baht per day and the maximum is 20,000 baht if you overstayed for 40 or more days

Just curious, where do you cross a land border entering Australia ??

Keep your mouth shut even if you are "in the right" with immigration police.

Exactly and more to the point, it is doubtul in my experience you can be in the right.

It is up to the officer standing in front of you.

I had one lowly sort of one striper contradict the "advice" and process of a much older general with gold stars and all that.

I tried to point out that his "superior" had a different opinion and went to seek him out. I couldn't find him.

The one striper gave me my 15 days to get sorted and when I complained a bit he told me how lucky I was to have them.

Not withstanding my opinion. That is IT. Take it on the chin and sort it out or it could get worse, as we see here.

Fancy F bombing any public official anyway. Ridiculous. No doubt he will be squirming around on his indignant Irish arse,

grumbling all the way back home. A nice long trip to think about it too.

Those are the countries that get the stated 15 days on crossing the border into Thailand, not into those countries.

Cant go swearing at immigration officers.

How stupid can you get.

Get out fool. she was only doing her job and doing it very well by the sound of it.

They could have had you on an over stay, but gave you a change to pay up and

all would be ok, you total idiot, go home.

On this subject visa extensions, always found them to be very good about this in Jomtien

twice i had a 30 day stamp extended 10 days then another 10 days, with no problem,

just showed them a flight booking. this was 5 years ago, but bet its still ok.

Good job immigration in Jomtien thumbsup.gif

The immigration officer was very lenient, offered him a way out and giving him 11 more days and fining him the correct amount for an overstay, he should have kept his gob shut and thanked her.

In fact he got off lightly as the Thai Ciminal Code has this which could have had him jailed for a year ...

"Section 136

Whoever, insulting the official doing the act according to the function or having done the act according to the function, shall be imprisoned not over one year or fined not over two thousand Baht, or both."

Bit of a non story to be honest, the article ends with the words:

Outraged fellow officers swooped in and slapped on the cuffs. If he didn’t want to pay, they told him, he’d either have to leave within 24 hours or be forcibly deported.

Which is what they should be doing anyway when they encounter someone on overstay, right? In fact the option to pay within 24 hours shouldn't even be there.

Doesn't seem to me like the swearing is relevant here.

I think it is ok if someone is mistakingly on overstay for 4 days that immigration allow a simple payment and you can stay.

But they don't have to do this of course. A harsh lesson for the guy who couldn't keep his mouth shut for just 3,900 baht,, really! Cheaper then a night out in Ireland.

I suspect he will hop out and hop back in again so it's now cost him a lot more then 3,900 I suspect. Unless of course they allow him to elect to go to Vietnam for example.

If deported back to his homeland that's a different matter.

There is a lesson for all of us........ check your entry stamp before leaving the immigration check point.

Oh, and another learning point....................... keep your mouth shut when you are in the wrong and/or dealing with Immigration.

Immigration did nothing wrong and I think it is appropriate in this situation to say "som nom naar"

Besides checking the entry stamp ALWAYS CHECK FOR THE ARRIVAL STAMP AND IT'S VALIDITY.

I had a horrible experience in Laos the one and only time I arrived at Tana Lang rail station near the bridge.

i later flew out and only then discovered that the entry IO did NOT stamp me in. Before I had to pay the $100

tea money at departure Immig. the TG counter staff told me that that is an old trick they use.

No excuse for this - I can only Imagine what would happen in other countries if he behaved the same.

But, out of curiosity, how does the deportation work. I mean people are joking about him being sent back to the UK - but wouldn't he just go to Cambodia / Laos etc. if he wanted t continue his trip?

Love the Irish on so many levels - outgoing, creative, witty, and passionate. Downfalls.., quick to react without consideration BUT almost always as quick to step back in, apologize, give you a pat on the back, and settle the matter.

That might work here. Na..., not so much. Lesson learned. I'm sure he understands the err in his tirade whilst en route home.

what a stupid idiot. How can someone be that stupid?

I doubt that the stupidity came on suddenly, he's probably been working on it for a few years at least.

Yes,I would say working on the stupidity for a while and pushing his arrogant way. That and the toilet mouth may work well in the pub but can get you behind bars in other places.
