Chiang Mai police arrested yet another thief who had been stealing women's underwear.

Krerkkit (no surname supplied) , 38, was charged with theft during the hours of darkness.

He told police that he stole the bras and panties in order to smell them while masturbating.

An arrest warrant had been issued after many complaints from women residents in the Nong Hoi Project 2 area of the city. The wanted man was caught on CCTV.

Yesterday Mae Ping police went to his room and found 68 items of underwear, mainly bras and panties. He admitted his crime.

He said that he had split up from his wife many years ago and lived with his six year old son. He pointed out to officers that he would target good looking women who hung their smalls out to dry at the front of their rooms.

He was detained and prepared for prosecution.

This was the third similar case reported in the Thai press in as many months. On Monday a man was arrested in Chumporn for stealing women's underwear.

I think masturbation is still legal however with this government one never knows what they might do. Life is full of surprises in Thailand. Section 44 could be used to ban masturbation so as to stimulate the economy via the sex industry. The hypothetical question is would the government be gender biased and only ban it for men?
