Hi

Has anyone recently got a 60day tourist visa from an embassy in Vietnam? Going to be travelling from Ho Chi Minh up to Hanoi so can go to either embassy.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated :)

You do not mention your prior visa history. In principle, HCMC and Hanoi are both nice places to get a tourist visa. However, they are strict with requirements, and may refuse to issue a visa if you have been living in Thailand on TVs for a long time. They will want to see flight tickets both into and out of Thailand, the latter within 60 days of entry. A recent report suggested they want bank statements also, but this was an alternative to flight tickets, not an additional requirement, the last time I was there.

Just got a 60 day tourist visa in Ho Chi Minh City on 17 June 2016.

They insist you must pay in U.S. dollars....they do NOT accept Vietnamese Dong. Have the dollars ready in cash or you won't get a visa.

You can exchange Dong for dollars across the road in a Vietnam Airlines ofice but the exchange rate is crap there.

They want to see your entrance ticket to Thailand and an exit ticket from Thailand and they insist it must be a confirmed ticket out of Thailand.

They are frendly enough, but they are very strict on the rules.

Go on line and read the requirment on their website.....they follow those exactly.

They will also want to see proof that you have the funds to live during your 60 day stay in Thailand......in my case I have a Thai bank account......and i brought the Thai bank passbook to show them, which they photocopied and kept with the application form.

They also want he usual 2 photos with the application form.

You file on the morning of the first day....as i recall they open aat 8:30....and you need to return the next day at 13:30 ( afternoon) to pick up the visa.

Not a bad place, but as I said they are quite strict that you must follow their rules.

Hanoi was friendly and professional. I have received two TV from Hanoi in the last 6 months. There primary concern seems to be focused on ensuring that you are not working in Thailand, which means if you have lived in Thailand be prepared to answer a lot of questions and provide proof to put their minds at ease that you are not working in Thailand. If you have a Thai Bank account, bring one of those immigration letters with the current balance along with the passbook. A confirmed onward flight out of Thailand should also be provided. If you don't have an apartment, then hotel confirmations may be asked for. They tend to be more lenient on requirements if they are comfortable that you are not working.

Make sure you have a photo or photocopy of a bank statement.

I had 1500 dollars cash and they didn't except it.

Luckily I went through my phone and found a text message from my bank after a withdrawal showing I had 23,000 in an account so.I had to run across the road to Vietnam airlines to get a photocopy.
