Hi,

I would really appreciate some information about my current visa/work permit situation just to confirm that I have understood everything correct.

My wife and I entered Thailand about two weeks ago. I entered on a single entry Non-B (work) Visa and my wife on a single entry Non-O (spouse) visa. We both got permission of stay 90-days as we expected. We then got my work permit at Prachuap labour office without any problem. My work permit is valid for 1 year.

As I understand it we are fine for now until our 90 days are coming to an end. I was by the agent my company uses that 45 days before our 90 days expire we can apply for an extension of stay for both of us at the Hua Hin immigration which is the city where my workplace is. Then our permit stay will be as long as my work permit is valid. Is this correct? I am thankful for any input on this.

The other thing is that we live in another province (we rent a house) and when I go for work in Hua Hin I stay at a hotel there. As I understand we need to apply for the extension of stay at the Hua Hin immigration since that's were my work is. But since my residential address is not Hua Hin, will this be an issue?

And finally. The agent that the company uses takes care of all the necessary paper work for me and I will pay her to take care of the paper work for my wife too. Are there any other documents than a marriage certificate that we need to prepare ourselves for my wife's extension of stay application?

I appreciate all your help.

Best,

Dwight

You have to apply at Hua Hin immigration since that is the office for the province where you are working.

Your wife may have to apply for her extension at the office where your residence is though. Without proof of residence for Hua Hin they may not do it.

Immigration may want your marriage certificate legalized by the issuing authority or if you embassy will allow it a statement witnessed by them that it is true and correct. They will more than likely want a supporting document from your employer that you are working for them.

You also don't need to wait to get your Non-B extended to a full year now that you have the 1 yr work permit. You could have done it the same day.

His non B expired the day he used it. His extension of stay will now have different dates of expiration from the WP which can be a hassle come renewal time. True, better to get things done closer together. Why the agent is not handling all of these questions is the question.

Thank you for your answers and help. I did ask the agent about the next step and she told me that what happens when I get the extension is that I will be permitted to stay in the country for as long as my work permit is valid. She told it me it doesn't matter if I do it now or later as long as I do it before my 90 initial days expire. But now it seems like she was wrong then...
