UDON THANI: -- Police in Udon Thani are closing in on the arrest of the murderer of a Thai woman who has a British husband.

Sunee Downer, 37, was found garotted in the bathroom of the family home in Phen district, reported Daily News. The Downers had been married for ten years and have two children.

The suspect is Sunee's lover called Thongsai, 26. He disappeared with 20 baht weight worth of gold, cash, a car, a phone and a computer notebook following the slaying on Wednesday morning.

And the finding of the notebook is helping police, Thongsai deposited it with a friend who is the owner of a car care business in the neighborhood saying he needed some money urgently.

When Thongsai had gone his friend Apilak Photipatsa, 34, saw on social media that Thongsai was wanted for murder.

He went straight to police who are seeking an arrest warrant armed with the notebook and the friend's testimony.

The suspect is believed to be visiting relatives in either Nong Bua Lampu or Loei provinces. Police reiterated that an arrest is imminent.

Looking at the photo of the policeman here I'm wondering now if Sadam Hussein is really alive and living secretly here in Thailand. Or, it could just be one very ugly dude. whistling.gifwink.png

I must say I feel immensely sorry for the husband and his two kids. This must be truly a horrendous experience on every front. I wish you better luck and happiness for the future for you and your children and family (your side of the family that is).

Looking at the photo of the suspect, no wonder Thai lady say "farrang, so handsome na" thumbsup.gif

there are some instances where evidence, or source thereof, turns

up to help investigation - notebook in this case .

i am sad where people from overseas get caught up in "blind

love", with some two timing opportunists.

the consequence is predictable.

Why publicise this sort of information in the media? Nothing like telling a suspect that you're on to him and you know where he's hiding out. Sure - he'll politely wait there until you come for him. Too many brown shirts wanting their 15 minutes of fame...

Luckily it never happens outside of Thailand.

So he paid for the laptop? Did he know or suspect it was stolen at the time?

Wonder if it was the first time he had done this. Junkies need a fence as much as any other criminal I guess

Must have crapped himself when he realised what his ''friend'' had allegedly done this time...

There is a possibility somebody might recognize him, now his details are in the media.

I'm sure the suspect is a frequent user of TV & will be keeping up to date with all the new postings of his whereabouts, so he can avoid being caught..!!! lol

LOL? You do realise that the original source of this piece was not Thai Visa? In fact, it was this article, conveniently written in Thai:http://www.dailynews.co.th/crime/509074

Nice try.

That notebook must be very heavy if it takes 3 people to hold it. I'll never understand the need for police to pose for these pictures or have the guilty pointing.

Mystified is mystified! Same, same! But yes - I agree with you!

I strongly object at people i view on photos on Thai Visa as always being

very slim, that's discrimination against us larger folk, please show more

photos of larger people to balance things up.

I also hate tall people, that's for my next reply, And smelly people, beards,

tattoos, people who wear socks and sandals, people who tuck their jumper

in their jeans, did i forget anything?

Utter nonsense. That Thai man looks a lot better than some of the "hansum" farang here.

Each to their own I suppose.

So how do the police know he made off with 20 baht of Gold? The lover comes in the house, murders the woman and does a runner. Did he leave a note saying, 'sorry I have run off with 20 baht of Gold'?. So who actually took the Gold? There is a lot of detail for what has gone missing when there were no witnesses and the poor husband was not back in country.
