PHUKET:-- A three-year-old boy is thought to have drowned in a ditch at a construction site in Kamala this afternoon.

“The body of baby Weeraphol Taseedam was discovered at the site close to his house. Nobody knows what happened to him, but we believe he fell into a ditch filled with water about one meter deep, and drowned; then his body was washed up by the side of the road,” said Kamala Police Superintendent Sirisak Wasasiri.

Chatchai Srikan, 29, the foreman at the construction site, was the one who first discovered the corpse. Police believe the boy died about an hour before he was found.

PHUKET: -- The body of a 3-year-old toddler was found in a rain-filled roadside ditch at a construction site behind a well-known tourist attraction in Kamala yesterday afternoon (July 28).

Lt Col Somnuek Damkaew of the Kamala Police was alerted by Kamala rescue workers at 2pm that they had discovered the body of a three year old boy in a small ditch filled with rain water at a construction site behind Phuket FantaSea in Moo3 Kamala.

Upon arrival at the scene, where a new road is being constructed behind the attraction, police saw one backhole parked above the rain-filled ditch. A rope with danger signs and traffic cones were placed around the ditch.

The sign read “Danger please be careful, road is under construction”.

Rescue workers were standing next to the body of the 3 year 11 months year old boy who was foaming from the nose and mouth.

Lt Col Somnuek said, “The boy had been dead for at least one hour before his body was discovered by Mr Chatchai Srikhan, 29, (the construction site foreman) who drove past the pool and noticed a hand poking out from the water.
