PHUKET:-- The owner of a 20-year old Opal Corsa Swing was forced abandon his vehicle in Phuket Town yesterday afternoon when it suddenly burst into flames outside the Expo Market on Soi Dilok Uthit near Chana-Charoen Road.

Two fire engines took about 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, reported the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) Phuket Office.

A representative of the fire department at the scene said that the car's owner and his colleagues were heading back to Koh Siray from the nearby Kaset Night Market when the vehicle caught fire.

Rats in Phuket Dirty town will eat anything. My guess while the car was parked some rat or rats ate some of the insulation off the wiring, thus causing the short circuit.

Phuket your rats are almost as big as the rats in Bangkok. Clean up this island, it is a disease catastrophe waiting to happen. Remember the Black Plague?

Far fetched idea - sure it might happen in a fixed location such as house wiring. But a smelly car (to a rat) - no way

Agree that the idea is far fetched in this case, plus the post in itself is more or less trolling anyway.

But rats do like car wiring, I also had some issues with that.

I am not trolling, but I do know of people who have had rats chew their bike and cars electrical wiring. It can happen anywhere on this island, clean and dirty villages. No trolling and only a thought on my part. No offense intended.

At our SsangYong they like the tubes of the windscreen washer very much :annoyed:

An engine fire in a 2oyo car is of such monumental importance it warrants two threads in this news forum.
