BANGKOK:-- A 42 year old Iranian man has been arrested after a tip off led police to the Yada Condominium in the Sukhumvit Soi 39 area of Bangkok.

There Lumpini police arrested Ali Vafaei who was wanted on a warrant issued earlier by the southern Bangkok court. He has been charged with theft by making false representations.

He was also found to be on overstay and was detained.

Police said that there is evidence that he has committed theft many times.

Hard hitting journalism at it's best.

In other breaking news, firefighters were called to a building on Soi 11 early this morning.  They did some stuff and then left.

Back to you in the studio, Somchai.

theft by making false representations.

I'm calling the cops on all those girls who tell me I'm a hansum man.  Definitely theft by making false representations.

Voluntary donations do not count as theft ! :giggle:

What about the Iranian woman who skipped town the day after the two bombs went off in downtown Bkk?   She was renting the bomb-making apt, and was bosom buddies with the bombers.  How 'bout Thai cops get off their tuffs and extradite her.   .....or perhaps it's 'mai pen rai' to assist bomb makers/users in Bangkok?

That would be folly. She'd probably tell them they've arrested the wrong people.

...from what we read daily.....this seems like the place to make 'false representations'......

...so he is definitely not alone.....

Google translation is acting up again?

What is 'making false representations'? I grew up with simple English, and we say - cheating and lying...

IIRC she was Thai.

And possibly married to a Turkish Kurd? so not much connection with Iran then.

I didn't realise that making "false representations" was an occupation reserved for Thais, but, come to think of it............. makes sense to play to ones strengths.

I distinctly recall reading, more than once, about an Iranian woman who was in cahoots with the Iranian men who were bomb-making in Bkk.  She split, and it appears Thai authorities didn't expend a calorie to try and get her buns back to Bkk to face the music.  Was it because she is female, or because she is Iranian, or because Thailand has economic ties with Iran?   The message sent by Thai authorities:  it's ok to make and toss around bombs in Bkk, if there are extenuating circumstances.

You seem to have confused two different women. The woman who rented the dwelling to the  Iranian nationals convicted in the attack was identified as Leila Rohani, an Iranian national. She  did indeed escape to Iran via  KUL, Malaysia  following the failed terror attack. She was 31 years old at the time of the attack and had visited Thailand  twice in the period immediately before the attack and had rented the house in Ekkamai  that was then occupied by the two convicted attackers (now legless Saedi Moradi and Mohammed Khazaei). This was reported by the media at the time and the information was entered into the court documents. It is an established fact.

The woman you  refer to was a prostitute  called "Nancy" who escorted  Mohamad Khazaei, during his stay in Pattaya prior to the attack,  where Moradi throw a grenade in front of a school  and theattempted murder of a Thai police officer (crimes for which he was convicted).  Nancy was described as a generic prostitute used for the deviant and debauched  activities Pattaya  visitors are known to engage in. The photos on her mobile phone were used to establish the timeline of the  three  male attackers, the ringleader who also safely escaped back to Iran.

You failed to mention that the bomb Moradi attempted to throw at the policeman bounced off a tree and landed at his feet, blowing his legs off.  That was the best part of the story.  Kharma came back to bite him.

"Lumpini police arrested Ali Vafaei"

Strange. Soi 39 is in the Thong Lo district.
