Foreigners allowed to own land in thailand

There is a rumor that the Thai government may consider allowing foreigners to own land in their own name. The intent would be to get some control over ownership of land by foreigners, now done by forming share owning companies.  If you hear anything about such a proposal, please let the Club know the particulars.  Land prices in the Pattaya area are going up. This change, if made,

would likely accelerate the rate of price increase.
