if the media were doing their work, they would publish it, but they are exercising some sort of holier-than-thou political correctness but they forget what role they have to play in a democracy: journalists and news media should get the facts of public interest out, appeasing everyone is the role of politicians, not of news editors.

The principle of not naming suspects until charged is there mainly to protect the innocent, not, as some here believe, as part of some conspiracy to hide the truth.

 

How would you feel, manarak, if you were in the wrong place at the wrong time and arrested for a crime you did not commit. Only to find on your release without charge that the police had identified you to the media and your name was plastered all over the papers?

 

As it appears this man has now died, no doubt his name will be released in due course.

maybe you want to familiarize yourself with the concept of "In flagrante delicto".

there is no room here for "at the wrong time at the wrong place".

 

EDIT: I agree with you as far as investigations are concerned, where evidence has to be collected first, etc. but not for cases where the murderer has committed his crime in open view for all to see, same as the scumbag Iranian in Munich, same as the scumbag Somali in London, same as the scumbag Germanwings co-pilot "Tomato Andy". In Europe, or at least most of it, we live in a civilised society with civilised rules and laws which apply to all.

 

Once the authorities start to treat people differently by ignoring the rules and law to appease the media and people like you or because of someone's ethnicity or religion then we are, in my opinion, no better than the terrorists who seek to destroy our society.

One victim dead after Swiss train attack

 

 

ST. GALLEN: -- One woman has died and two remain in a serious condition a day after an attack on a Swiss train.

 

A 34-year-old woman and the 27-year-old suspect died from their injuries, according to police.

 

Five people were wounded when a man attacked passengers with a knife and set fire to the carriage on the train nearing Salez station in northeast Switzerland.

 

“At the moment we are not treating this as a terrorist attack, or as a politically-motivated or xenophobic crime,” explained St Gallen Police spokesman Hanspeter Kruesi. “We have no indications of that. Neither do we have any indications that it was a crime of passion. We have absolutely no information on what the motive might have been. As far as we currently know, he acted alone.”

 

Police are yet to release the suspect’s name, but have identified the man as a Swiss citizen who lived in a neighbouring canton.

 

The police said that the attack did not appear to be directed at a single person and they added, it was unclear if the suspect knew any of the victims.

The attacker is now dead and has been for some time. Still no name. While we don't know the religion and ethnicity of the attacker, if he is a Moslem, it would fit a clear pattern here of the authorities trying to move the focus away from that by hiding the facts from the public. We have seen it in various European countries particularly Germany and Sweden.

Supposedly he was a young, white Swiss guy.  A bit shy, with some mental problems.  27 years old.

 

They are still trying to work out if he knew the woman he attacked, who also died.  The other people are still in hospital, including a six year old child.

 

They think it was a crime of passion, that went out of hand.

What does it matter what colour he was? Muslims come in all shapes, sizes, colours and countries. There was a Canadian Muslim terrorist who was gunned down the other day when he detonated a bomb in  a taxi. He was white and born in Canada.
