Chinese Ceramic Pots

Featured Replies

Does anyone know where Chinese ceramic pots - quite large, for umbrella stands or to use as flower pots or for water lilies - may be found? There used to be a sizeable pavement selection at Big C Hang Dong Road, but it has long since gone, replaced by a wooden furniture vendor. Any suggestions gratefully received - I'm not looking for expensive antiques, but rather quality, new, not necessarily cheap ceramics - you see a lot of them for sale in Mekong Valley towns like Mukdahan, but that's a little far to go!

Thanks indeed - Dru

for maybe 8 years there was a guy who was set-up in various covered areas of the back parking lot of Meechok Plaza that sold just what you are looking for; high-quality imported Chinese ceramic items. very, very beautiful and very good quality. lge pots were about 7-12K Baht as i recall (larger than umbrellas pots). not sure if he is still there? maybe someone has see him. i''ll take a look when i'm there tomorrow and let you know.

Thanks,  Oscar - very much appreciated.

i looked around the back parking lot a while ago this evening. hard to know if he is still there since it was the walking street market tonight and very, very busy with many cars. but his goods were always visible and under the watch of a security guard if he wasn't there. i didn't see his stuff on display. don't know for 100% certain but my guess is he is gone after many years.

I know it may not help you, but you never know, there is a large Chinese porcelain outlet in the car park area of  Makro in Chaeng Wattana .. I have used him for many years he is honest, reliable and has good solid products . As I say it's not on your doorstep.

Thanks very  much for looking, Oscar.

Dipstick - you are right, Chaeng Wattana is a little bit too far, but thank you.

Nope, he and his wife are long gone.  I know because I bought a lot of stuff from him.  I also bought a couple of glazed, crackled celadon (at least that's what they look like) umbrella stands at the factory outlet place on Nimman Street near where Kasem used to be.

What about Kamthieng?

What about Kamthieng?

Kamthieng does have some locally made large pots for lotus, etc. in mostly solid colors. i have not seen any other high-quality Chinese imports like the guy at Meechok had, however. i assume the Chinese motif is part of your decorating scheme?

Yes indeed - I would like Chinese or Vietnamese rather than Thai, of which I already have plenty. Thanks!
