Probably get away with just a court appearance and a fine. Unless you used a fake degree to get a job. People have done porridge for that......6 months plus.

Deportation too

Not worth trying it. Also that's on the Protected Job List. If you owned a salon and we're the md I'm not sure about. Meaning you still could not work actually cutting hair.

First offence 30,000 baht fine was the last two l heard of,  you don't get deported if you have the correct means of stay.

So that's hairdressing out of the window.

What about odd jobs around the home? Mowing the lawn, painting a room, varnishing a window, putting up a fence, installing bathroom items ie a sink a tap, bumguns stuff like that?

True but can you do it yourself or is it classed as working and therefore illegal?

You can do it yourself at your own house within reason. Putting up a fence might be stretching it a bit dependent upon where you are living.

Plenty of english teachers working on a tourist visa.

They are working illegally though and risk being jailed, fines and deportation.

I just returned  from doing a 30 day  extension ar CW to a 60 day single entry visa.

i am now here offivially until 21 September 2016.

As you exit from CW imigration  there  is a poster on the wall telling you in English rhat you mixt have a work prtmit ro work in Thailand.

Just in case you didn'y alreadyknow that.

It doesn't say what the penaltry is however if you get caught working without a work permit.
