PM wants media to act as 'mouth, eyes and ears' of Thailand

"He said that he is ready to invoke his special powers, but he does not want to and he does not want anyone to force him to do so."

Article 44 has given this human the power of a god, but misusing such power will sooner or later cause his downfall because humans are not capable of using such power wisely, this type of ultimate power always corrupts the wielder, eventually destroying him or her.

Remember Dr.Bruce Banner saying; "Don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry"  before turning into the Hulk.

He's going to invoke his special powers - x ray bullshit?

This guy would be hilariously pathetic if he wasn't in charge, as it stands he is dangerously singleminded.

If the media had paid heed to his advice they could have avoided all those messy details surrounding the Koh Tao murders.

If the media had paid heed to his advice Thailand would still be a flawless smiling land of benign farmers providing lifts to Russian tourists and rescuing elderly couples from mudbanks.

The media is truly destroying this country.

And everywhere else since forever:

In a world bereft of quality leadership, the PM bucks the trend.

It is a tough job.  Who is the person who could take on his responsibility in a country divided?

Be careful what you wish for.  A newly elected government could become a disaster for Thailand's prosperity.

If you all love your idea of Democracy,  why not go and live under it? Why stay here,  where no local gives a fuucc about what you think. Go home to your perspective countries, dress up in your Sunday best and vote your quality votes as often as you can.

You will never be able to vote here. So quit the noise. Leave. Move somewhere where you think your vote matters.

I for one am tired of the armchair expats. You knew what it was like here. Nothing has changed in 70 years.  Thai coup politics are a repeating almost century old cycle.

Or, before you moved here, maybe you forgot to read up on it?

The idea of "like it or lump it " holds just a little water.

Certainly , entrenched military power and discourse on oppression and propaganda by them is certainly a normal talking point.

Prior coups were not so long term and now politically frame worked to stay.

But your right ....not about the outrage .

But considering leaving.

Even down track ( having to leave)

Cambodia is from September offering 3 year visas.

Some will heed your advice.

However, it is normal and somewhat sad that we reach this point.

Really  once a place that was more open, is now a dark place and heading to civil war.

Does that mean the media can't report on the PM as the coup did some pretty bad damage to the county's international image??

And the media definitely should not ever be allowed to report or replay 'patriotic'  songs written by the incumbent PM (or any politician).  The tsunami did less damage to the country than those oral abominations. Give me Jedwood anyday!

People say the silliest things, especially when they have an insatiable desire to micro-manage the lives of their citizens.

it's a good thing the Thai educations system has sufficiently dumbed-down the populace so they don't even have a clue how silly some these pronouncements are.

How long was Franco in charge?
