The rain woke me up a little after 12:30 last night when it started coming down hard.  It ebbs and flows a bit but it is still raining now, ten hours later.  That earth link is interesting in that is shows why the south side of our house is getting hit here in Chiang Rai.  Initially I was expecting northeast as the direction from which the rain would come.

Click on the EARTH rectangle to toggle on and off a menu that lets you change reading by altitude (air pressure) air or water, actual or anomaly ... also set the exact longitude and latitude from which to take a reading. History is available, (back to Nov 2012) and some readings will project future via compute model weather forecasts.

Example, this one shows the wind speed of the storm currently off the coast of China
https://earth.nullschool.net/#2016/08/25/1200Z/wind/isobaric/1000hPa/orthographic=-263.95,19.43,408/loc=130.777,22.484

While this one shows how much cooler or warmer than usual for the date the ocean temperatures are.

The map also lets you zoom in or out, and re-position around the planet by drag and click.
