MACRO in Khon Kaen closing down ?

Featured Replies

I understand that MACRO in KK is empting all its shelves.

Staff are being laid off or offered "new contracts'.

CP is taking over and will introduce lines from its own suppliers.

At least its not another cassava plantation !

Any one heard the same ???

P.S. Shame there is no supermarket war here as there has been in the UK, the biggies couldn't compete with 'real' good quality at a low price

and totally different brands.   Mind you much of the produce did come out of Eastern Europe.

Fear Op

CP bought Makro from The Dutch firm that owned them two years ago maybe little more. It was the largest business tranaction in the history of Thailand.

CP seem to have made some changes. Although some lines, maybe many, have been replaced with their own brands.

I am talking about changes in Buriram.

CP took over Makro in April/May 2013, changes have been made already.

Product Choices and service have taken a dive ever since the takeover BUT... Prices have risen!

Speedo1968 - where did you get the info from? Bearing in mind that CP already own Makro (so if you got the info from an employee they should have known that), and that Makro sell an infinitely wider range than a normal CP store, I can't see how they would fill such a huge place with their own food produce.

When you corner a market you raise prices. Nothing new here!

Old news.  Have seen changes at Makro since CP acquired it.  The most obvious and uncomfortable one at the Makro we use is not more air conditioning. :(
