Paypal Hell

It seems Paypal is like Marmite/Vegemite. You love it or you hate it.

Anyway, I'm not aware (haven't used) a service that can match. Dosen't mean I've looked in to it. But each time I did, there were bad reviews (e.g. Skrill, western union, payoneer) or if they seem good/okay, not everyone accepted payment through them. e.g. allpay.net

With allpay.net I havent seen any bad reviews, but it's mainly accepted by UK local Councils, housing associations and schools. Doesn't seem they have retail businesses and online businesses in their sights yet. Maybe that will change.

The thaivisa news article link below suggest some alternatives, however, they are mostly for sending money to friends/family, not for online payments to businesses (unless you get something like the Payoneer mastercard or use Venmo). Remember looking at Payoneer, sometime ago, wasn't impressed.

For UK pps, for sending money to friends/family or paying small business, the only alternative on there that grabbed my attention was Paym. That's my two cents anyway.

I'm sure there's a similar alternative in U.S, the THaivisa article says "Venmo". (Note they're partly owned by Paypal)

I think the problem is until someone breaks through in the market that can compete with Paypal (and becomes widely accepted), same as Mastercard competes with visa, when it come to credit card providers, we will just have to make do with the "devil we know".

However, saying that, definitely will be looking to use Paym or another provider next time I pay for something online.
