Young Thai cop shoots lover then self in Korat condo

KORAT: -- Police said that a 24 year old policeman who recently graduated from the academy shot his 20 year old girlfriend then himself in a downtown Nakorn Rachasima condo.

 

Officers from the city police found two people dead in the third floor room of the rented condo, that was not named, reported Sanook. Dead was 20 year old Miss Natthakran a third year student of travel and tourism at a local university. She had been shot in the head.

 

Nearby was officer Wirat, 24, who was attached to the Huay Thaleng police station in the province. He had been shot in the head also.

 

Near his body was a .38 Luger.

 

Wirat had only just completed exams three months ago at the Jor Hor police academy.

 

Police said that Wirat rented the room on Monday afternoon and probably arranged to meet his girlfriend there to sort out a personal problem. 

 

When they failed to reach agreement he shot her then himself.

These constant murders are ridiculous. The police academy failed society for letting this mentally unstable person graduate and get a gun. The academy should be investigated. It's probably just a pay-for-a-diploma place where idiots like this worthless human soul are appreciated. If Thailand's cops are respectable they should look into this school and all the others and look in the mirror because they are a failed institution.

Why did he wanted to become a police man ? Good he is dead so he will not shoot other innocent victims.  RIP to the girl.

I would suggest that due to English Thai pronunciation problems, it is probably a Ruger .38 revolver...Just as deady....

Just another useless waste of a young womans life,  for the copper his choice and no real loss except probably to his parents. 

As long Thais don't learn to sit and discuss and find solutions together as long the guns will be telling them the lesson.

Should change the habit of Thais for more freedom in families, business, streets........

On a lighter note, I'd love to see a reality TV show of the Royal Thai Police Academy.  It would have to be funnier than the movie franchise!

he controlled himself enough to only use one shot to kill her instead of emptying the whole gun wildly. Maybe he paid attention during the "shooting unarmed civilians" lesson at the academy.

Anyone got any verified national level stats, on occurrences of this type of thing? X per million head per year, kind of stat.

Just more victims of frail and fragile egos.........no more than little boys with guns.

Besides, this is not really a Thai specific thing, it IS a male thing. Violent murder/suicide happens everywhere, even in gun shy UK, and I believe there was one 'decent' guy in Ireland who surprised his 'close-knit community' (gotta love press bullshit!) who did the Missus and kids for, before turning out his own lights, just a few months ago?
