webfact Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Chiang Mai province to store water as rainfall increases CHIANG MAI, 5 September 2016 (NNT) –The Director of the Chiang Mai Irrigation Project is ensuring data and management initiatives are applied to water management in Chiang Mai province. The Director Jansark Limpiti has announced that the water situation in Chiang Mai province is getting better because the amount of rainfall is increasing. The water level of small dams which can contain 100,000 cubic meters is currently at 29 percent while 12 medium sized dams are at 26 percent of capacity. Meanwhile, the holding percentage of large dams such as Mae Kuang Dam and Mae Ngat Dam is at 26 percent. The Director of the Chiang Mai Irrigation Project also said that the Water management committee has set a minimum standard of water level at 30 percent. He gave an assurance that all dams in Chiang Mai province can contain more than previously expected. The Water management committee, Chiang Mai province has accessed all sectors including Public-Private Collaboration to solve all kinds of water problems, along with the single command strategy of the Governor of Chiang Mai province. Moreover, a zoning strategy has been devised along with the other policies. -- nnt 2016-09-05
