'8 Mile' director, Oscar-winning writer Curtis Hanson dies

Thailand, China agree on $5 billion cost for rail project's first phase

Insurance companies told to quickly pay compensation to boat accident victims

An insurance company has offered 10,000 baht compensation for families of each of the 28 boat accident victims despite the fact that the insurance policy of the boat owner has already expired, Mr Sutthipol Thaveechaikarn, secretary-general of the Office of Insurance Commission, disclosed on Wednesday.

TRAT — Maritime officials said a residence belonging to an executive at the nation’s largest corporate conglomerate sits illegally on nearly 60 rai (9.6 hectares) of protected forest land.

First lot of 35 scandal-plagued fire trucks ready to be delivered for use end of September

The City Hall is expected to deliver the first lot of 35 fire trucks bought over a decade ago from an Austrian company to the Office of Public Disasters Prevention and Mitigation for use around the end of this month, Deputy Bangkok Governor Pol Gen Asawin Kwanmuang disclosed on Wednesday.
