It does not say they were playing for money,  maybe just for fun ?     Next they will be rounding up all the girls and their customers for playing  'connect four'  or 'jackpot'  in a bar for 20 Baht or a drink,  haha..

WOW,   the police have just hit the tip of the iceberg !!   Plenty more  for them to catch yet,    and  then they may be able to spend time on finding bombers, killers and the like,   and just maybe policing the crazy, speeding and drunk drivers killing people every day on the roads !

History has revealed that some low income folks and seniors who are unemployed, that gamble and lose it all turn to crime.  When tourists and expats lose it all they take Thai jobs illegally in many cases and overstay their visa time limits.

This is why it's illegal.

In America in the 1800's, rivers of blood ran out of gambling halls and bars over drunken, cheating disputes, greed, and robbery.

For those of you who ridicule the police, just picture society here in a serious financial retreat without them!  You would be afraid to step outside. It's doubtful you would even make it to the airport if you weren't Asian.

Don't forget your content is monitored so if you get turned down on your visa application blame yourself. If it's determined your content could affect tourism, you could be arrested now.

laughing stock of the world once again, they got brains of children, yep come onl lets make this viral

What disturbs me is that this post got 22 likes.

The racist poster should respect the law of the country he lives in. Gambling dens are illegal and Thai people DO gamble on dominoes, snooker and other games.

Why should those over 60 be exempt from the law?

The heading, which is becoming common here, is misleading and written to get this kind of reply, IMHO.

My thought is that you have to earn respect, not demand it. Then it's worth nothing at all. And it is difficult to respect a law that seeks to restrict gambling to the illegal casinos run by the untouchables who can then make billions of baht. Why else does every country around Thailand allow gambling, but Thailand does not?

Most countries use common sense in applying the law, but as that is totally absent in Thailand you get people making the country a laughing stock. Nothing new about it. Now let's have a discussion on what they'll dream up next........

Is this a joke? History has revealed? What nonsense! You are making it up. Business itself is a gamble and people in failing business can equally turn to crime.

Where are the "rivers of blood" in the countries where gambling is legal?

Do you actually imagine that gambling is not rife in Thailand?

Your post is amongst the most ridiculous I have read here.

After from all this, I've never actually seen dominoes played for money.

You don't think there was money changing hands...just arrived in Thailand today?  ??

"Taken into evidence were two sets of dominos, playing cards, mahjong sets and some dice."

What happened to the money, then?

If raiding elderly game players is best use of Thai Army personnel, perhaps, those in charge ought reassess the Army's priority & focus on issues such as current flooding problems throughout the country which is an annual recurring problem. A far more productive use of manpower!!

You obviously didn't read the link  - 14 decks of cards, dice, majong etc.

This was an illegal gambling den and those making fun of the fact that they were over 60 don't understand the seriousness of this offence.

Those who think there was no large gambling here are totally naive or just trying to show their imagined superiority.
