How far in advance can I apply for a new Non O visa ?  My current one expires Nov 17th.  I would like to travel to Vientiane a couple weeks early if possible.

Thanks in advance.

If you only have a single entry non-o visa it became invalid as soon as you used it for entry.

If you have a multiple entry non-o visa and want another one you will get one in Vientiane. You could apply for one in Savannakhet 2 weeks early if you wanted to but you could leave and re-enter country just before it expires and get a new 90 entry.

oh,  I use it for retirement extension.  I was under the impression that Vientiane was the best place ?

So 2 weeks early should be ok ?

If you already have an extension you don't need a new non-o visa. You can apply for another one without getting a new visa.

If you are on a 90 day entry from a single entry non-o visa you can apply for another one at any time now in Vientiane.

I'm confused a bit.

I thought I had to get a new Non O every year - go to Vientiane every year.

Are you saying I just go to Vientiane for the retirement extension every year ?

Thanks Ubonjoe

Are you on a 1-year 'permission to stay' based on retirement, which you received by submitting documents to an immigration office in Thailand?  If the answer is "yes," then you can do that same process again, without leaving the country; you do not need a new visa to do this.

If you already have a one year extension of stay you applied for and obtained at immigration you do not need to get a new non-o visa every year.

You just apply for another one year extension at immigration by showing the same documents as before.

So I can obtain the affidavit of income and take that to immigration in Thailand ?

I don't have to go to Vientiane ?

Yes - I have a NON O visa and retirement extension.  Expires November 17th.

I was planning to obtain another affidavit of income in Udon on Nov 4th.

Now as I understand it - I just come back to Ubon and go to the immigration office here with the affidavit of income.

Thank you so much.

Just get the income affidavit and apply for a new extension of stay at immigration.

No need to go to Vientiane.
