BANGKOK: -- A lawyer has said that the man who kicked a brother and sister off their motorcycle in Bangkok on Saturday could face two years in jail for assault.

But an attempted murder charge would not stick.

Video of the incident caused a stir on Saturday. A youth is seen kicking out at two people on a motorbike on the Kanpapreuk Road. They end up on the tarmac in a heap while the kicker races off.

A man claiming to be the one who kicked them off the bike went on Facebook to admit what he did saying he was angry after the driver of the bike called him a "dick" for going through a red light. He claimed that he did not flee despite strong evidence to the contrary.

Before the video there was apparently an altercation at a gas station that came to blows before the brother and sister left the scene. But their assailant caught up with them.

According to reports he reported to Bang Khun Thian police alongside the victims on Sunday.

Online lawyer Rannarong Kaewphet said that having seen the video he thought the assailant could face two charges, namely assault that carries a two year sentence or 4,000 baht fine and fleeing the scene of an accident that calls for 3 months jail and 2-10,000 baht in fines.

It was not an attempted murder charge in his view.

Resorting to social media and drumming up support through social justice warriors? :passifier:

What about the high wai's to the cops, the low wai to the victims, and the customary brown envelope before he leaves the station. Sorted.
In all honesty though, this scumbag even though he will pay minimally in costs for this, should be getting at least a few months inside. A despicable person

“A man claiming to be the one who kicked them off the bike went on Facebook to admit what he did saying he was angry after the driver of the bike called him a ‘dick’…"

Well, he proved the driver wrong, didn't he?

This is an example of the biggest problem in Thailand - lack of accountability and the inability to accept criticism even when clearly wrong....

huge societal problem that so far unable to rectify leads to dysfunctional behavior and undisciplne - out of control due to no problem solving system in place....

the he kid admits it but will he get ticketed for running a red light as well? No b/c their society doesn't recognize it as a wrong. A mentality exists here that if I can get away with it, I didn't do anything wrong...which leads into the moral and ethical realm...

he got called a dick for going through a red light which was well and truly a correct classification for him but he lost face so had to make sure he had the last laugh by causing them to crash, he is lucky that no cars/trucks ran over them. Hope they lock him up for many more years, time they stopped pandering to these little boys that cant control their tempers when they are caught out doing the wrong thing, these idiots need to learn they are responsible for what they do, they are not gods or number one as their parents teach them.

The driver of the crashed bike supposedly called him a dick. He went on Facebook and said was angry. He proved the driver was right indeed.

I'm betting that the dick has parents that are connected and that the two knocked off their bike will face charges of driving without helmets. The authorities can not decide if it was an accident or an assault so no charges for that but for sure photo evidence of no helmets being worn.

If this guy was so determined to inflict serious injury to the pair because they called him a dick, just imagine how far he would go to retaliate against those who really upset him.

A real sad mother flucker in serious need of attitude adjustment!
