I'm running out of room for my bamboos and need to give some away. If you are interested pls post here. The plants are free, but there will be postage costs.

I'm not sure about eating shoots from these varieties, but I do know that you can make beer from the first one!

Here's a list:

Oxytenanthera abyssinica

A drought resistant African variety that does well in poor, sandy soils. Could be interesting for those in Isaan.

Guadua Angustofolia

From Sth America, great for timber. It prefers high altitudes, but we grow it at 28m above and it does OK. A little slow to get established, after 6yrs it's producing attractive, straight culms of around 80mm.

Bambusa balcooa.

A very dense clumper that's drought tolerant and likes sandy soils. Good for timber.
