You need to learn to read and comprehend before posting.

He wrote about a Halifax credit card. If it is the Halifax Clarity credit card, they do not charge anything, other than interest.

Post from a position of knowledge, not conjecture.

Your advice is terrible. :)

Correct, Halifax do not charge for ATM withdrawals abroad on their Credit Card and to avoid interest payments immediately transfer the amount withdrawn on the card from savings account.

Incidentally, some posted earlier that money can be withdrawn at the counter free of charge by presenting you foreign bank card and passport. This is true if you have a bank account here in Thailand, i've just done it using Bangkok Bank

  • Go and make a withdrawal over the counter at a bank and there wont be an ATM machine charge

  • And get a hefty cash advance fee from your local bank. A late surprise. If the card is a debit card they will refuse to pay OTC. Thai banks are not as stupid as some might think.

  • And Bangkok Bank has been allowing me to do this without any fee whatsoever.  The only charges come from my North American bank (basically the currency conversion fee).

You don't need to have a bank account.

Though it's a good way to fund your local bank account.

No No No!     " Bangkok bank is trying to get rid of foreigners"

That's only certain foreigners.
