UNITED NATION: -- The UN special envoy to Syria Staffan De Mistura has said eastern Aleppo faces total destruction that will result in the deaths of thousands of civilians.

He added he was willing to escort the 1,000 remaining members of Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, the former al-Nusra front out of the war torn city to Idlib province.

“In the eyes of the world and of the public opinion, are you really ready to continue this type of level of fighting using that type of weapons and de facto, destroy the whole eastern city of Aleppo, ancient city of Aleppo with its own 275,000 people for the sake of eliminating 1,000 al-Nusra fighters?” He said.

He added that history would judge Russia and Syrian leaders harshly if they used the presence the extremists in eastern Aleppo as an “easy alibi” to destroy the city.

275, 000 people's lives ruined for the sake of 1, 000 extremists?  History will judge this harshly.
