Khun Bob Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 No mention of needing a work permit... When you enquired did they state it was possible to have a non-resident account provided the conditions you state were met ? In the UK HSBC have a UK international banking centre, which allegedly helps people open a HSBC account/relationship with any of their branches world wide - hope to be contacting them later today with respect to Thailand...
Oleg_Rus Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Since years they were kinda bitchy. I remember they needed 100K initial deposit and 30K monthly balance, 6digit PIN, bloody high fees and so.. That was about 10 years ago. btw , who needs this bank? anyway ? there's Citi, BBL, others . Why HSBC ?

Why HSBC ? Why would you want to open an HSBC account in Thailand? All banks based overseas are still subject to Thailands currency regulations with regards to movements oversea etc. Citi bank(at least) is limited to only 2 currencies ($US and Baht). Yes there is Citi bank but the requirements are much the same and they also have visa requirements. If you have the kind of money that is mentioned here then why not open in Singapore with HSBC or Citi etc. They all have on line banking, there are no language problems and unless you are living in Bangkok is just as cheap and easy to get to these days.
