BANGKOK: -- DESPITE SIGNS of a recovery in the export sector, Thai manufacturers and exporters have been encouraged to focus more on product development, brand recognition, and adding value to enhance competitiveness in global markets.

 

For the rest of this year, exporters expect exchange-rate fluctuations will still be cause for concern, while oil prices will continue to rise. Some expect to benefit in the fourth quarter from the year-end festive season. 

However, they believe their longer-term strengths will include correct business strategies, value creation, innovation, and targeting the right markets.

Sorry, but if you keep you currency high, exchange rates will always kill your exports. 

And encourages imports which then hurts local manufacturing which supplies the domestic market.
