I'm actually very big on applying the lessons from history but that's an aside, I just think that because we did this/that before that we could or even should do it again. Again, we thought it was a good idea to join at one point, now we think it's a good idea to leave, except we're not leaving because the trade aspect of the union if bad, far from it. TBH "we" haven't thought it through properly and we've allowed the desire for any change at any price to cloud our collective judgement, that along with not understanding as a nation why it is we want to leave.
