What did he do and where?

The pics posted within this thread of him and a buddy sitting on scooters drinking beers.  It's almost as if that was part of a service announcement of what can happen but without the actors.  Not implying he was drunk but still pretty rotten judgement if this was the case.

I suggest what has prompted some negativity is the mention that he lives in very luxurious accommodation, engages in very expensive activities, flies first class to the other side of the world, holidays which requite funding, but when he passes away his gym buddies ask for a public handout to get his body home.

Essentially, if he could afford all the luxury it would seem very very inappropriate to ask the public for cash for return of his body, funeral at home, etc. Plus, Is a gym boy really such a high profile stand up highly contributing person in terms of building a balanced and fair civil society? Seems doubtful.

As already mentioned it's a bit surprising that his family haven't already posted something to clear the air. But of course their call.

I hope you were not referring to me as "his gym buddy", as it was more being offside on posters slamming the family and deceased; this was mentioned earlier.  The donation part is the family's business and I have no idea what kind of expenses they have as I'm giving the benefit of doubt that they're in tatters and are taking advice and not using this to their benefit.  Yes, many of us old hands know how it works here but just dropping a family that doesn't know the system into a situation like this and proceed as if they know the law of the land?

I was surprised how the media portrayed him as if he was a so called "celebrity" and now the public are up in arms because of this label.  I don't know what his balance sheet looked like as I just knew he was active in Houston and was only a contributor on that site, as outside youtube and Houston he was a relative unknown.  If I didn't know of him previously, yes, maybe I'd be siding with many on here, but I did know of him and this is the reality.

Four points:

1. You say "...the donation part is the family's business..." , strange other postings indicate the donation process was started by the gym club friends.

2.  Again, if the family is so well off why are they needing donations? Transferring own funds from US to Thailand is very easy and very fast.

3. "Yes, many of us old hands know how it works here but just dropping a family that doesn't know the system into a situation like this and proceed as if they know the law of the land? " Unfortunately there are situations come up like this right across the globe every day of the week. Nothing new, nothing different in that. In such situations we need / would need to get on with finding the right 'process' and get it going.

4. You say  .. know of him previously in regard to the Houston scenario.. (partly my words). But then you say things about being an old hand here.  ?

First, everyone who knows Clark always, and only, mentions his two sisters when they speak about the "family" themselves.  Next, if we "know someone" we should implicitly trust them and if their loved one has died we are not allowed to question their motives or the appropriateness of their actions according to you?  Yet, they are asking the public for money so that means by default that we don't know them.  They are asking to pay for a death in their family and some "other unspecified stuff".  That opens the door to allow questioning of their motives and the appropriateness of their actions.

Well if you had read all of the thread it seems we have figured out that the girlfriend is fine and doesn't seem to need funds.

However, read what you wrote and think about it.  They have raised $103,500 as of now plus there is a nightclub fundraiser going on that won't be included in that number.  Don't you think the public should have some idea exactly what the money will be spent on?  Do you really believe "whatever they need it for is not relevant?"  So if his sister decides she wants to drive his $150K Jaguar when she returns and needs to make the payments for the next 2 years with the money from this fundraiser, that is fine with you?  How much did you donate?

What's with all the conjecture??  I need to answer a hypothetical situation, really?

I'm not like cuddly feely with them, just wasn't good with that people were implying scam.  Do people have proof of this??  I've only said this 3 times now...

I guess it's pretty standard on how it works on TV.  Hey, I've been guilty of micro analyzing and finger pointing myself on here, so par for the course.

Don't overly fret so much about money and who has it and who doesn't, since how does it make your life any better or worse?  I could care less how much people have.

If you want to dissect my posts then go for it.  Maybe I'll even click like to them.

Good luck guys, hopefully we can banter back and forth on a more light hearted subject.

RIP Clark!

I presume the family is going to use it on how they see fit.

That's not my concern and I don't know why people are fretting over it.  You'd be surprised still how many people are seriously in the weeds here.  Case in point the numerous questions asked daily on TV on matters that one should know prior to coming here or pretty much anywhere else in the world.

Yes, you're correct on that and I agree.  But there are still those that are not prepared and apparently they were not.

I'm not following that last one as those were separate statements that I've made.  I was just referring that I was an acquaintance of him and the ref on the "old hand" is how someone that is more familiar would react in a similar situation.  Similar to the answer above.

I didn't want to come off as a "fanboy" or "white knight" when I first posted.  It's just tough when families lose someone unsuspectingly in a foreign land.  I know, it happens all the time as it has happened in my extended family many years ago.  But, reading the thread and some of it's post was harsh.

Yes, your right, losing someone you know is painful and to have people talk about something they don't know the full facts to isn't very tasteful.

The money side isn't really the side that bothers me. It's the accident itself.

Why is there no news articles in Thai media about this?

Where was the accident?
What was the reason?
Which hospital was he sent to?

I can find nothing on this in Thai language on the internet.

Is there any evidence of this accident?

The deceased himself is something of a scammer if he's telling people there is a shortcut to a cut 6 pack.  THERE ISN'T!!!

Like other things in life, the only way to achieve a cut 6 pack is hard work, crunches, crunches, and more crunches!  A bit of careful eating, and a lot of  fat burning exercise, to get rid of the layer of fat, are also required.

No, there is NO shortcut to a 6 pack.

Just shows you know nothing about exercise , his course shows you a shortcut to getting a 6 pack which for your information doesn't require endless hours doing crunches ! I am a subcriber to the course and here is an e mail I received about 20 mins ago:

Tony...

This last week you may have noticed that you’ve been getting emails from me instead of Clark.

And I’ve put this off, because it has been extremely difficult for me to process the news, but I know that it’s time for me to let you know...

It deeply saddens me to inform you that our SPS trainer, Clark Shao passed away last week from a motorcycle accident while vacationing in Thailand.

Clark was a phenomenal trainer, nutrition and fat loss expert, as well as very good friend.

You can watch the memorial video that our team made right here:

Watch Now: In Loving Memory Of Clark Shao

I had the privilege of knowing Clark for the past 15 years, along with working with him here at Six Pack Shortcuts. He was an amazing person with a genuine soul.

During our time filming Six Pack Shortcuts 2 we got really close. He truly did inspire me to live life to the fullest and showed me how to never waste time from enjoying life, especially when it came to working out.

He also encouraged me to never limit myself on trying all different types of foods. In one of his last posts on Facebook, he was eating crickets and worms! Gah, I miss him...

But the point being, he really changed the way I view my own health and fitness. Every day that I've entered the gym since his passing, I feel his spirit pulsating through each rep that I do.

I truly admired him as a person. He was like a big kid who just loved life and knew how to enjoy every bit of it.

And I know that he influenced and impacted the lives of so many people, in a such a positive way.

Clark’s last workout video on the Six Pack Shortcuts channel can be watched here:

Quick Hangover Cure - Hotel Room Workout

I hope to only continue his legacy by bringing you great content and advice to keep you motivated and help you achieve your fitness goals. He lived for changing the lives of guys like you, and I want to help you reach your goals in any way that I can.

“You will be forever missed, You will be forever remembered. You will always be in our hearts and never forgotten.”

My heart and prayers goes out to Clark’s family and his girlfriend Melisa.

We will miss you, brother. RIP.

P.S. The gym here at the Six Pack Shortcuts is now dedicated to Clark. This is the same place we took the picture above.

I think they're so desensitized that this is not really news anymore, they report on the biggies like buses and when numerous ppl are killed/hurt.  Someone posted stats once that about 26K+ die each year from traffic related accidents, and this is what is reported.  I guess the Thai media doesn't think much of his status either.

@Tony - I'll even expand on this as some ppl here think he's part of "this scheme" and getting cheques from YT.

To the best of my knowledge, he's not part of ownership other than maybe some perks as he was only an online contributor; they have quite a few.  I know the co-owner of the site had done a an online dedication to him.

Yes, ppl feel everything is a scam now and don't know how much dedication it takes to improve ones health through exercise and eating well.  The days of the informercial in the 90's in the wee hours with all the gadgets would come out with promises have been replaced with the internet, and YT is leading the way on how ppl are now training.  Yes, there are some individuals on there that have no business giving out advice but they hide behind a persona they've developed to gain their following.

Time to move on from this thread.  I hope in time the individuals affected by this tragedy time will find their peace.

(lengthy email deleted)

I won't get into a public pi$$ing contest Tony, so I've sent a couple of PM's, but let me say that when a marketing campaign uses 'sweeteners' like "Click here to see if you qualify" (anybody and everybody will qualify if the put up the $$), and "You're not guaranteed your $100 discount" (pushing the reader to act NOW, and everybody qualifies), I know there is some dodgy marketing going on.

Whatever, it's sad to see a  young guy die, but I think having the family chiseling away on gofundme for cash is distasteful when he appears to have been a young man of some financial substance..
