Yes I own ID and residence visa. Do you know if they process them in Dubai too or only in Abu Dhabi.

Friend told me that non-immigrant visa are issued only by embassies and not by consulates.

They will do one at Dubai since it is a official Thai consulate. Only honorary consulates are restricted from issueing certain visas.

Thank you that sounds great!

Do we need a birth certificate? (I see it stated on http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/4908/15398-Issuance-of-Visa.html) or only a thai marriage certificate will be enough.

You will just need your marriage certificate. That page only gives the general requirements to apply for a non-o visa and includes getting one for being the parent of a Thai.

I tried to call them to confirm what documents I will need, first the lines were busy for few minutes, now when finalled answered it was all just a computer system talking.

Here is what I can provide, will be these enough for getting me a non-immigrant-o marriage visa. I'm doing this first time (I stayed always on tourist visa), so I want to be sure everything will be alright:

- filled out visa application form
- passport with validity not less than 6 months
- 4 x 6 cm photograph
- evidence of adequate finance (20,000 Baht per person and 40,000 Baht per family)
- proof of Thai nationality of spouse (copy of her passport)
- copy of marriage certificate
- proof of income

Thanks.

So they finally sent over the requirements.

I'm a bit confused that they still need return ticket as usually this applies for tourist visa.

Also I thought only marriage certificate is enough, but here they state also passport, ID and house registration copy of spouse + invitation letter.

It is a bit odd what it states in 7. It says it must show a outbound ticket from Dubai. I think you should try and confirm it must be a round trip ticket. They should accept a onward ticket to a nearby country which could be a low cost one way ticket.

Could you get a scanned copy of the house book (page one and page where you wife is shown) and ID card sent to you by email.

The invitation letter can basically just ask they issue you a visa to visit her.

So I got my Non-Immigrant O, multiple 1 year visa here in Dubai. All went smoothly, application took about 10 minutes, collection as well.

Q: I'm still not really familiarised with the process of non-immigrant visa, so from now I have to go to immigration every 3 months with my wife to get extensions or I still have to leave the country? Or it's up to me which option I choose?

Thank you.

You will have to leave the country every 90 days for a entry unless you apply for an extension.

You can apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife for each entry.

Or a one year extension of stay based upon marriage that would only require 90 day reports to immigration. You could apply for it during the last 30 days of any of the 90 day entries from your visa. You would need 400k baht in a Thai bank in your name only for 2 months or proof of 40k baht income to apply for it.
